Title: Can anyone identify this noise?
Post by: m4t_lee on December 04, 2011, 03:46:47 pm
Name that noise in 3 :)

I thought it was the cam follower but it's been changed and the noise it still there. It's had a full service and new cambelt etc and still there, any ideas at all please guys?
Car still drives as it should but it just sounds like a bloomin truck :)

Sounds normal to me, heard they're quite noisy engines due to the injection....

It's more the knocking / ticking noise really that I'm trying to get rid of. My last Gti although noisy as hey all are didn't make that knocking type noise

It sounds like a normal 2.0TFSI, but the slightly louder.

What oil has been put in? I noticed a difference going from normal quantum to quantum longlife III, seems to be quieter.

I'll take another vid when it's louder, it seems louder after a run. It's currently got quantum platinum I think.

Didn't check the cam for wear but will ask my mate who did it and see what he thought. Don't fancy the cost of changing the cam tho, sounds expensive.

Sounds normal but you've got a cover missing from the intake pick up

Give Sanburn a try in Coventry, I'm sure they will be able to help. I was in there last week and I'm sure they were breaking a GTI then. :happy2:

Haha, it was Tuesday, the heavens had opened so I didn't pay much attention to it. There was 2 other lads waiting for the airbags off it!

I'd be interested sub, does it replace the front triangle bit of the intake pipe and is it a direct swap out?
