Title: First RS3 i've seen on the road
Post by: Little_Dave on December 09, 2011, 04:06:07 pm
Not the greatest snaps as i spotted it in the car park at work and did a few quick covert shots out the window  :signLOL:
I'm not a fan of the wheels at all  would look alot better without the red lip IMO

Yeah I'm not keen on them either. Seeing as we are on the subject of new Audi's, I saw a White S7 Sportback when I was at Morrison's earlier. have never seen one before.

Seen a Daytona one on the M6 before. Had the more sensible wheels without the red

with some different wheels with the correct offset to fill the flared arches, I could be tempted to put my hand in my pocket

Come to Bradford...think 50% of the RS3's ended up here. Seen quite a few now.

Had one in at the groups York Audi and the guy who ordered it traded it in after 2 weeks, didnt like it...they should also have the RS style exhausts, 1 either side.

That blue one looks very nice.

I gotta say that the rear view of the RS3 is very uninspiring. Spend around £45k and then more dosh on mods? Hmm, expensive!

Pretty much sums up the entire Audi range... None of the models have any identity (especially A3 A4 A6 A7)

Just to play devils advocate which of the VW range has an inspiring back end

I find women have inspiring back ends not cars.

Personally i like the understated looks of the RS3. Order it de-badged and people would think it's an S3 or even an S-Line A3 with some fancy wheels. That for me = Win.

Blue one looks quite nice, but overall very dissappointing looks, especially the back end and side profile.  A3/S3/RS3 body shape just doesn't do it for me.

Its all about identity for me. I play a game (i know I'm sad) of guess the audi from looking at the front end in the rearview mirror when they come blasting past on the motorway.... they all look the same its virtually impossible.  :signLOL:

Walked past an audi saloon the other day... could have been either a A5 sportback or a A7. One trick pony design team.

Im not saying that VW are at the cutting edge of design innovation... but at least when you see a polo/golf/passat/eos/rocco... they are easily definable.

I see what you mean about VW Cars. It's easy to see the difference between a Golf & Polo GTi

Was only 7 weeks difference in the end  and about 10k though was't it but the blue is far nicer  than the white

Love it or hate it, you know its a great bit of kit, and a remap to 400hp, thats a winner for me! Plus boot space and all that boring stuff!

Agreed.  Gloss black grill, lower lip and mirrors for me and as you say could be an S line, with a nasty suprise

But Andrew changes cars more often than his socks so 10K is nothing to him. I guess if you change cars as much as he does colour does not really matter but seemed such a waste to wait all that time when you know the build date then not just wait that little bit longer for something unique in a special order colour no one else has.

@ Carl:
That suggests that "inspiring" in your dictionary only means "wanting to f*ck"!

Obviously (looking at my GTI) I just don't get this whole thing about pretending to be something "with a nasty surprise". It also suggests an overly aggressive driving style when in the company of other cars. Either that, or it says "my willy is bigger than yours because my car is faster" to another driver. regardless of looks, there's ALWAYS going to be faster car or better driven than yours (mine included).

But of course, each to their own. Personally I prefer a bit of style in my life. 8)

Robin you don't half talk some drivel sometimes. For someone who makes out he's worldly wise you make an awful lot of assumptions.

My comment about a woman's rear was a tongue in cheek remark hence the smiley. Also I'm not the one with Quad exhausts! Willy waving indeed  :P

Doesn't make much sense to me Robin, an element of assumption With linking styling preferences and driving behaviour?

I think it can be nice to have a nice looking and powerful but understated car.

....I used the word "suggests" rather than assume anything as a fact.

I agree, that for many it is very nice to have a nice looking and powerful but understated car.... The understatement thing just doesn't float my particular boat and that really doesn't matter.  :happy2:

Either way, as with any and every car (and for Carl, female arse  :happy2:) there's always going to be those who like and those who don't. I like the RS3 but not without criticisms and that's before I've even driven one.

Fair dos

It's one of the things I like although at this stage I think my car is hardly understated  :ashamed: so my taste is quite broad

Thing is, I don't think the RS3 is that understated, it's just that they open nearly every bit of kit that differentiates it up to lesser cars, so you can just about have a 1.4 TFSI that looks like an RS3.

I do have to own up to having soft spot for a Red RS3. However, I would get the rims finished off so they're all black and would also need to address the front bumper/splitter too. Just looks like there is something missing IMO. Like someone has pinched the splitter..

^ Yes I seriously would swop my plate over. Afterall, VW own VAG don't they? And anyway it would be a laugh. I'd do the same with a red Lambo
