Post by: Phil Miller on December 10, 2011, 08:01:17 pm
now that time is looming what are your plans for the festive time?

I finish work on friday 23 and after a shower will be loading the Golf with the kids and driving to Norfolk to stay at the in-laws till the 27 due to me being back at work on the 28, so me, OH, 3 kids under 10 and the dog, traveling 360 miles, after working all day.... i just hope when we get there, im greeted with a bottle of beer and the offer of looking after the kids so me and the OH can go out on xmas eve  :drinking:

Well I get back from the 1st snowboarding trip of the season (Les Deux Alpes) on christmas eve, landing about 1pm, quick trip home (about 30 mins) have a shower and jump straight in my car and drive to Norfolk to Mum n Dads (around 3hrs from Manchester).

Then its Xmas with Parents for a few days before off to do my own thing again for a few days and then back to Manchester for New Years Eve and then another trip back to Norfolk when I go back to work on 3rd.

Nothing. Xmas is cancelled, again. Havent you heard?  :xmassmiley:

In all seriousness, the wife and i are trying to save every single penny we can at the moment to buy a house. So we arent even buying each other token gifts. Let alone all the other poor sods in my family. Oh well. Told them all not to get us anything either.

I even cancelled the order for our Polo GTI earlier in October, and bought a cheap as chips Fiat 500 from work as a daily, and its absolutely fantastic. I was so so tempted by an Abarth at work last week, but at this stage it would be pointless.

Christmas will be spent at home with the wife and cat, Boxing day will see us travelling 35 miles up the road to spend the day with my parents.

Christmas roast twice in two days - get in!

Good chance I'll be spending mine on an oil rig so Christmas day has been moved to 29th, it's pretty sh1t but I'm not religious and it's part & parcel of my job.  If I blag it and get home early then I'll be singing "driving home for Christmas" until my lungs give in :)

Best wishes everyone :)

The plan is to relax. The reality will sadly be far from it.
