mm might have to pay you a visit in the new year--but can't decide which header unit
either the this one (http://www.alpine-electronics.co.uk/products/product-singleview/advanced-navi-station/ina-w910r.html) but not sure if it will stick out with the edge at the botton of the header unit--like this unit becase of the graphie equaliser and it is like my rb320
or
maybe this one (http://www.alpine-electronics.co.uk/products/product-singleview/advanced-navi-station/ine-s900r.html)

I much prefer the S900. It fits far flusher than ANY unit on the market.
The facia ALPINE make specifically for that size unit is perfect. I have the Pioneer unit http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,36423.0.html (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,36423.0.html) in mine but if i didn't id for sure have the S900.
Should send the info to the instrument cluster if you have high-line aswell.
-
i want the unit to sit flush but with the INA-W910R it will get on my nerves if it is going to stick out at the bottom....Looks like the INE-S900R i will go for :happy2:
-
its not as slick looking menu wise but get past the looks and it is the most practical, usable and fastest unit out there.
This is the 1 thing that annoy's me with the Pioneer, it can be quite slow and orchard to navigate to certain menu's and also select tracks / phone numbers fast.
No probe with the S900 though ! The picture in picture feature is excellent.

Thanks for the info, does the alpine one you mentioned have a closer street level view like my older unit, sorry for all the questions
-
yep, close zoom / street level + speed camera data base with little red road signs displaying the speed limit!

Hey Andy Steve's place is excellent and you have to take a look at Steve's dads collection :happy2:
Steve Ill sort some diagrams out for you but the R8 may need some kind of wiring routing from the engine bay to the light switch you need a switched live that only turns on with the lights??
Darren

What is the switch live for on the lights for
-
Steve has asked about engine bay lighting for the R8 mate but on most of the R8 forums they are having trouble with how to put it in,
The Light switch is the only place I can think of that will give the 12v switched live?
Darren

not concerned about routing or even finding a live for it, It was mail looking to see if we could find the OEM wiring location. I'm 99% sure it will simply be taken from the same circuit as the interior light as most indicate thats how they are activated.
I was hoping we may find a pin out on the CECM that we could go to but for the life of me can't find sites with wiring diagrams or even CECM pin layout descriptions.
I know Darren has done plenty of retro fitting so thought he may know of good sites that have the relevant info.
Quite interesting that the panels are easily found on ETKA for locating the LED's but multiple dealer's have told the customer that Engine bay lighting is Factory build ONLY!!!!!

I saw both cars yesterday and helped steve with the part numbers, also have a Vag-com Scan of the R8
