Buy a set of led ones.

is that the only way to do it
-
Not the only way but probably the easiest way and with the best result at the end
-
Will the fog light have to be moved on these :xmassmiley:

Will the fog light have to be moved on these :xmassmiley:
Yup as they don't make a RHD version.

Can a RHD be found anywhere or is the only solution to change the lenses over (I have seen this done somewhere)
-
No you'll have to do it yourself. It's a simple swap, just a bit of cutting and gluing. There's a guide somewhere
-
I'll just see if some come up for sale on here
-
These will sell quick in the for sale section, once you have 25 posts
-
There are also loads of versions on www.dectane.com and look quite good too. Still think the new Golf R tail lights look awesome! :notworthy:
-
these are golf mk5 not 6 cheers
-
Ha gutted! Gotta be so quick!
-
will keep you in mind incase sale goes wrong cheers
-
Good man cheers :happy2:

I've got these lights on my car, had to some modifications to the wiring to get the reverse & fog lights to work but i'm very pleased with them on my black car, I much prefer them to the Valeo LEDs

....Those look much much better than I thought they would. Do you have any better pics?
How do the inner LED units function?
-
any pictures of them on look abit like the mk6
-
Will get some pics on tonight, the inners come on with outer lights and the indicators work on both the outer and inner lights.

....That's exactly what I wanted to hear :drinking: Thanks, mate.
Got a link where to buy, please? - I might be selling my LED Valeos!
-
Straight out the box?
-
if they look as good as i hope my oem will be for sale as well
-
Here are the ones I got
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350513291031?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
I had to modify the wiring (easy job just making the wires longer to either side), had to grind a little off the back of the lights just to make them sit right (me just being picky) and a bit of work to get the wiring for the inner lights from the outer lights it was basically plug & play.
Also they were cheaper than the Valeo LEDs I had previously
-
NOTICED THESE ARE LHD DO THEY DO RHD OR DID YOU HAVE TO MOD SAME AS OEM ONES CHEERS
-
If either of you sell your Valeo's let me know, would be very interested
-
will do mate :happy2:

No need to shout mate :signLOL:
All I had to do to get them to work correctly was to do a little modification to the golfs standard wiring to get the reverse & fog lights to work correctly.
-
just that on the picture the fog and reverse light are other way round for lhd
-
Yes they are the opposite way round but they work correctly as I have modified my wiring, there is no way of changing the lens round as people do on the Valeo LED version.
-
have you had this in for a mot since fitted as fog needs to be on right side and reverse inside
-
Only fitted the other day, wouldn't have thought it made much difference which side the reverse / fogs were on

The MOT test state that the Rear Fog light must be on the O/S of the car, so if yours is on the n/s and reverse light on the o/s it will fail the mot test

Bugger, oh well i'll just have to swap back to my standard lights come MOT time, not really much of a problem really :happy2:
-
its just that if police want to be funny they will pull you as it is illegal for english roads
-
my reverse lights got a red len's n i dont get any problems :signLOL:
-

might have to look into trying to get them apart and swapped rund in that case then :ashamed: didn't realise they had to be on certain sides
-
yes thats why we change round on valeo leds
-
you could put a red bulb in the reverse for the fog but you have still got the problem with the fog light with the red lense
-
just put a silvertec red bulb in it or a red led bulb and u will be fine dude
-
^^^^
As others have either said or intimated, by law you must have at least one rear foglight (you can have two) and it must be on the driver's side.
You must have a reversing light but I don't think it matters which side.
Just swapping for taking a MOT is a fool's game because if you were involved in an accident (incident) it's possible that your illegal lights could be blamed as a cause. Also, if the Police stop you even for just a routine check and then spot it, you are in trouble. It's simply not worth it.
-
If either of you sell your Valeo's let me know, would be very interested
....Okay, but I definitely won't be buying any of those Litecs if they aren't totally UK legal.
-
I am sure you dont need a reverse light for an MOT :happy2:
-

....Then I stand corrected.
I'm very surprised. Having a reversing light to see a little of what's behind you in some night time parking situations is extremely useful. Also it's safer if you know the car ahead of you is in reverse gear. I wish my GTI had two reversing lights.

Just been having a quick browse
The inspection of rear fog lamps is confined to the one rear fog lamp which is required to be fitted to the centre or offside of vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1980

Being dated back from 1980, obviously there were some cars around at that time with a centrally positioned rear fog lamp. The term "lamp" is a hangover from horse-drawn carriage oil lamps! Which modern cars have a central rear fog light? Some exotic bodied supercars perhaps? Zonda?
And did you come across any MOT words about reversing lights?

I was going to look into this myself out of curiosity and as we just sold one, the Pug 206 has a central rear fog (and was made until mid 2007 in the UK).

....Ah, a French car - The French have always designed weird looking cars!

Reverse lights ARE NOT part of the MOT test, i remember in the 80s some cars had after thought fog lights, the sort you see on imported cars, side repeaters became part of the test in 87 and rear seat belts as late as 88 who would have thought it, i can also remember when diesel smoke test was visual
-
Ah some good news then, I might just but a red bulb inand wire up both lights as fogs, the fog and reverse are not LED buls so I might be saved, will also look into taking the inner lights apart if i can and swapping the lens round.
Cheers for all the replys guys, not got any night time pics yet as I'm in bed with the flu :fighting:
