A big thanks to Mick (Mixit) for his outstanding hospitality today and I must say you live in a very beautifull part of the world and Im not jealous at all!
Here's the first shot after we'd placed the first seat in to get an idea of the height! It may be a tad on the high side? Maybe Jonny can help me with some tips on how to get it a bit lower? I was thinking maybe a hacksaw? :rolleye:

Maybe some issues with reaching the pedals? Robin I do hope you didn't have these problems!?!??!?!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fkk284%2FGreenouse%2FP4150060.jpg&hash=f04528a6704251ced5362139781c541bcea55446)
I may even have them recovered in the grey Leather with red stitching? Your thoughts are appreciated!
Nah! Here are the bad boys themselves and I can honestly say after Mick and I's brisk blast  and my two hour drive home I am blown away by how different the car now feels thanks to the seats!

Not the best pics in the world but Im saving that for when I have the 'work' I want doing on them finished!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fkk284%2FGreenouse%2FP4150062.jpg&hash=c69193e38260c62615f416e57a1ba10aeceabdef)
I did enjoy the car without the rear bench for a few days, lots more noise and she felt lighter and more nimble!
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fkk284%2FGreenouse%2FP4150057.jpg&hash=083a1a7bc8bfa791b54eabff8abd4dee02a95ada)

ROFL at the garden chair.
Looks very nice mate, esp. with the interlagos cloth.
Don't think I'd wanna lose the heated seats + lumbar support though.
-
What are those nasty Grey things.....get them out and put that lovely Green one back in. That is the daddies and surely the way forward for car seating!!!!
Looks lovely actually mate, everytime I keep seeing them I want some myself. :happy2:

Cheers chaps :happy2:
The lumbar is spot on for me and I have problems driving cars without a lumbar. As these are sports seats they have a decent lumbar built in! And as for the heated seats, you can keep them, they used to make me feel as though I wanted to go toilet! :scared: Not good in the car! Small sacrifices for great seats! IMHO of course!
-
:signLOL: garden chair must weigh sod all, dont give jonnyc ideas!!
Luverly bum huggers you got there mr ouse
-
Look superb, what work are you doing ?, i know i would be doing them with leather sides and interlago middles with red stitching of course

Nicely vented across the back, no more sweaty backs...plus nice high seating position, you'll be able to see over 4x4 now... :signLOL:

2.4 KG's
I know thats light, but its only 3.5kg lighter than my extremely comfortable Recaro's.. Still cool though! And really not a bad price considering there 100% carbon!

I'd much rather your seats too, 7KG is naff all in the grand scope of things
-
stunning :happy2: just sooo right
-
....
Brilliant! PMSL over the green chair! :signLOL:
Yes, I find the lumbar support totally adequate on the Recaro Sports and I've never wanted heated seats either.
Gives driving a different feel, doesn't it Nathan.
How is mixit finding his new seats?
-
Love the seats! :happy2:
-
LOL
Red stitching would look Da Bomb on the garden stylee Recaro's man....do it! :signLOL:
Seriously, those new seats look mighty fine 'nousey :happy2:
-
What have you done to the lower splitter?

they look great. really wishing i had these put in when i ordered the car :(
-
What are your plans nathan?? leather convert and red stitching to keep the theme?
-

....That's exactly what I thought in 2005, but the Recaro option cost nearly £3k if I remember correctly. VW then ended the option in July 07- At least in the UK.
The standard seats are so good that it's not until you start really pushing the car that you begin to think that the Recaros may be desirable. Well, that's not quite right because those sexy Recaros are always desirable just for their eye-candy.
-
Unless I've missed it, do you have a price for the covers yet RR?

Easily missed, mate. Best discussed in that thread rather than Greenouse's here [I know - Going off topic doesn't usually bother me but that thread is specifically on the subject]
:happy2:
-
Looks spot-on and will look even better re-trimmed :happy2:
-
They look .
-
I think i prefer the green one's :signLOL:
No seriously they're so nice!!!
-
The seats look lovely Nathan, and the Racaro's look half decent too! :happy2:
They're such a badass seat, and something I think should be either standard or a cheaper option!
-
Thanks for the comments chaps!
Plans are under way for the re-trim! :jumpmove:
-
Im enjoying the std ED30 seats to be honest. I appreciate fully the gripping properties of the Recaro's but my crumbling spine was beggining to suffer on long journey's. Besides I now have a 1 year old interior in a 3 year old car. All I need to do now is get the Airbags connected. ( can I just point folks to the "Wanted" section ) :ashamed:
Great to meet you Nathan and I have to say, the Fens really aint that special to look at
Still having a little smile thinking about your car spinning up an inner wheel at about 90 around a corner on that "Private" bit of road

Glad your pleased with them Mick, Im over the moon with mine!
Yes that was a great bit of 'private' road you have there, Im sure if I'd driven it before we could have gone faster!
It was a good day mate, thanks again! :happy2:
