Now the weather is getting colder its taking a while for my car to start in the mornings, I have always had a bit of a warm start issue, ie it has to turn over a few times before starting if the engine is warm. Any ideas what could cause this, i'm thinking starter motor or glow plugs?
-
i think this is a known issue with the earlier TDIs, or at least it was with the A3 so i'd imagine the Golf would have the same problem. think it's the starter motor
-
Thats what I thought, were are known problems not recalls!!!

Yep very common prob and it's the starter motor, it draws to much current and doesn't crank the engine fast enough, make sure you replace it with a good quality replacement

I've read about this.
Some people say it's the battery not pumping out enough juice to start the car.
Other's say it's an early warning sign that the starter motor is failing.
I've got this problem. Either way, it's more money!!!
A Bosch battery from Halfrauds is like £119!!!!! Arghhhhhhh :sad1:
Any idea of the cost of a new starter motor?
I can just imagine the thump of my credit card bill hitting the mat :scared:
