Title: LED f*ck up
Post by: justcallmeal on December 12, 2011, 01:35:38 pm
Went to replace the interior lights with these today

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140547920140?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

and have now thrown the car into total darkness.

Can anyone assist where I've gone wrong?

Thanks,

Al

Have you tried turning them around ?, plus when you say darkness do you mean nothing works ?

Hi Shaun,

Yea, I did turn them round when I was fitting the 3 lights in the centre of the roof and they worked.  When I was replacing the ones over the cockpit all went out.  I've lost all interior lights including footwell and the boot.  Tried locking/unlocking car but to no avail.  Exterior lights are no affected...

5a amp fuse in the drivers side fuse board.  3rd row 5th counting from the front

Thanks for the guidance guys!!!

Checked my handbook and it says 7.5 amp fuse, 3rd row 4th in???

Strangely when I went to the car tonight one footwell light came on and nothing else.  Then, when testing the lights manually by the buttons the passenger overhead light came on when I swiched on both driver and passenger buttons.  I had the overhead lights in the middle of the roof working and now nothing.

Totally stumped!   :stupid:

Have you put your old bulbs back in to make sure it isn't the circuit/fuse at fault?

Update.....

Got the fuse changed and original bulbs back in - Thanks to all for the guidance.

Still no wiser as to what would have caused that and if I should try and install the LEDs again or just arrange a return.

Further advise greatly welcomed.

Just replace them one at a time and make sure each one works before you move on..

I fitted the same kit to mine and had no problems.
I did do them one at a time and made sure each one worked.
They only work one way round!!!If it doesnt work take it out and try it the other way in!!
I`m sure there is a fine wire on the bottom of each LED you will see what I mean when you try them.
Good Luck

If you don't get anywhere with this and fancy getting someone else do this for you then I can highly recommend http://xenonhid4u.co.uk/ who fitted mine in under 15 mins for £30 (supplied and fitted)... :)

I purchased blue (£9 for two)LED interior lights from Halfords and had no problem (did not do footwells)
