Whenever i am driving along and slow down for a junction or to stop i seem to have a squeak when the wheel does probably a full turn, if i apply the brakes the noise dissapears, i have removed the front calipers and cleaned them up and applied copper grease to the neccesary parts but it still does it, anyone else had this problem before? Its a DSG if thats anything to do with it (I hope not!)

Either take it for a bit of a blast to clean up the disc / pad surface and see how you go or try something like the 3m anti squeal shims on the rear of the pad, either way it's nothing to worry about and just a nuisane really
-
Is this quite common then? :signLOL:
-
Yes nothing to worry about, just need to take it for a bit of a blast and get them warmed up a bit :driver:
-
:signLOL: Its seems to do it after its warmed up though, its not a constant thing, just after driving for a while, this is without applying the brakes by the way

my fast road ferodo pads used to squeak in use but since the caliper refurb and shim refitment no more issues. Im sure its solvable just depends on whether you can live with it as is.
-
I had some squeeking with my ferodo DS Performance as well
and solved it by doing two simple things:
1. some antiseize ceramic paste between pad and caliper*
2. doing a brake in procedure
They are absolutly quiet now, even under cold and wet conditions.
* I'd NEVER use copper paste on a modern car !!!

Exactly! and top advice :happy2:
'Ceratec' or a similar ceramic based compound to prevent interference with ABS sensors that Copper grease can cause :happy2:

I didnt realise that about not using copper grease!
Also it has grooved discs
-
I stuck a set of these on mine and greased it up, not had a problem since ;)

Yeah copper grease can play havoc with ABS sensors but to be fair lots of people still use it unawares and seem to do ok, but for the cost of a tube of Ceratec (£3) i'ts worth it for peace of mind imo
Also grooved discs are always going to be noisier than plain ones, i had some Tarox grooved ones on my old Bora once and they were bloody noisy, stopped well though! :happy2:

Yeah same item and seller as i have on my pads, work a treat! :happy2:

I'll have to get myself some of that, had a squeek on the nearside front for ages. driving me :stupid:

It's well worth giving it a try mate, worked wonders in conjunction with a good coating of Ceratec on mine even with the Mintex race pads :happy2:
