Title: are mk6 gti and mk5 gti suspensions swappable?
Post by: antonis42 on December 12, 2011, 09:02:06 pm
can I put a mk6 gti suspension into a mk5 gti?
Same with aftermarket suspension and coils,
can I install a mk6 gti designed one onto a mk5 gti?

ther Mk6 GTI probably has updated suspension components so they may not be a direct swap. i'd imagine ETKA would be your friend on this. i'd imagine there shouldn't be an issue the provided you've got all the bits

aftermarket wise i've seen them advertised as Mk5/Mk6 suspension. the Mk6 is really a Mk5 facelift. there's no reason they shouldn't be interchangable.

Mk.V components do swap on a Mk.VI and vice versa.

But springs and dampers are matched to engine and weight.
You shouldn't put 1.4 springs into a 2.0 TDI.
There is also one damper diameter up to 122 BHP (50 mm)
and one from 140 BHP on (55 mm).
