Title: Reset MPG
Post by: Wallpaper_01 on December 14, 2011, 05:13:00 pm
Hi, just got my car and learning all the little things it does (never had a car like this that has so many luxury's! Last car was Corrado VR6, electric windows that's it ha!)

How to I go about resetting the average MPG and the TRIP mileage?

Also how do I set the speed warning and is it that useful? What happens an annoying noise!?

Thanks,

Dan

On the right hand stalk there should be a reset button on the underside just hold it for a few seconds.

The speed warning i think you use the buttons on the end of the right stalk to go up in 5mph each time. I think it just beeps but havnt really used mine  :happy2:

Would be good if the speed warning was a limiter

Dan,

Welcome to the forum!

Your first stop should be (assuming you got one with the car) your manual. These cars have so many clever little features that you'll miss plenty of them without a manual. If you didn't get one with the ritzy leather GTI branded wallet, I'd be speaking to your nearest dealer.

You have either buttons on the right stalk, or multifunction buttons on the wheel for these functions.

If you have the midline display you set the speed warning by driving at the speed you want a warning at, then press (I think!) the reset button and the display should change to show the speed warning you have just set.

It beeps and shows a message on the display.

If you have the highline display you can set it as described above by using the buttons to increment the speed.

Is there a speed limiting option of any kind on the MK5 Mike?

My mates RSC 182 had one built into the cruise control, quite cool and useful more importantly!

Nope. no speed limit option. Just cruise control.

No VCDS tweaks, no kufatec goodies/addons or polar FIS extras that do this Stealth?

Would be useful to have the more I think about it.

I've always thought this, would be good to set it at 80 and just cruise on the motorway, i know there is always the cruise control but sometimes if im in light traffic i seem to switch it on and off like a yoyo.

p.s lovely looking car Mike  :congrats:

Think, I'll be having a good read of the manual when I get mine. I didn't know of this function....
