Title: Had my ED30 Stage 2 but......
Post by: JigBake on December 14, 2011, 07:03:39 pm
I took my 57/ED30 to Revo, Daventry on a Focus RS open day to promote their new software. My reason for this was because they were offering 10% discount. I must admit that their service was appauling. They said they couldnt map my car because it had to many faults and low fuel pressure. I sh*t myself there and then because I have only had the car a couple of months and it has only done 22k. I asked them what should I do? and they answered we dont know, its probally fuel pump. They then told me to go to AMD Essex (where I live...100miles away) and get them to sort it out. I was furious! So I drove 100miles back home and they luckily could fit me in.

When I got to AMD they diagnosed it and said we should start with the cheapest thing first. The problem ended up being the fuel filter which was a relief! They mapped the car and honoured the 10% discount. It made 250bhp before map (TBE and filter) and 320bhp after. I was really happy with the service from AMD and Revo's software. So I finally got there in the end.

When I thought it was all good, after about a week of driving about my clutch has now started to slip. I was gutted. After doing some research I have now realised that this is quite common. I have only experienced the full power a couple of times. I was shocked that it went at 22k. After I get an uprated clutch fitted after christmas im now hoping that I can enjoy the car! Fingers crossed.....

Shocking service however glad you got it sorted. Good to hear review of AMD aswell. I used them for my stage 1 and will be going back for my stage2.   Do you have an uprated hpfp ?

I do not have an uprated hpfp, but will when I go 2+ next year.

Just out of interest, what was shocking about their service?

Your clutch shouldnt have started slipping only a week after going stage 2 !
I ran my Ed30 for 20K mles over 2 years on stage 2 before it started to slip, sounds like yours was already shot before your remap.

Rich...

Mine is slipping on stage 2, but thinking it was starting to slip after 15k miles on stage 1...

Check out the group buy section ;)

It doesnt slip all of the time. Its only really when im in 4-6th gear under load at low revs. To be honest with you at high revs it doesnt really slip. I will uprate it in the new year as I plan to go stage 2+.

Their bad service was a number of things. It was like they had no interest at all, not interested in diagnosing what the problem was and just said that it would cost £100's to fix it as they thought it was fuel pump. It ended up costing me £35 for new filter and fitting which solved the problem. Me and my friend that came along both said that we were dissappointed and the people there at the day showed no signs of proffessionalism. Which is such a shame because the software I am extremely happy with and AMD.

Is there a group buy for clutches at the moment??

Im not sure what settings the map has. I am going back to AMD this week for a service and cambelt so will ask the question then. Not sure what the settings mean to be honest with you. They did say that because my car hasnt had a brake fluid change since new and that I am suffering very minor slip, it could solve the problem for now. In all honesty the slip is minor and only under full throttle at low revs.

My previous Leon FR started slipping about 2000 miles after stage 1 Revo although it had covered 40000 miles.
Any weakness in the clutch is quickly highlighted once Revo'ed.

I recently had my brake fluid changed and had the clutch bled. This seems to have stopped the slip. I am happy for now. Interesting to see how long it will last. I never found out my btf settings, I forgot to ask.

Why were you so angry at Revo? You took a car with a fault to them and expected them to fix it for you? come on..

It wasn't the fact my car had a problem which made me unhappy!! It was the service, attitude and lack of commitment. Don't seem so shocked that I had a bad experience with them. I was willing to part £600 of my money, so I expected better service. They were short with my questions. It's hardly my fault nor theirs that I had a problem when I had no signs, or engine management light on show. They are supposed to be the professionals, not me. But as I said I am extremely happy with the software. Anyone in my shoes would think the same!

Have you received your sps switch from Revo dude ?

Also try and find out as AMD put my fueling set to 7 and that was asking the pump to do to much without a upgraded pump internals. I dont think i'll use them again tbh.

The bad service I was talking about was with revo not AMD. So far I have been happy with AMD. It is interesting hearing different people's experiences with different companies though. I didn't get an SPS switch either. I just missed out on getting one for free (a deal revo started a couple of days after me getting the map) but oh well. I will find out my settings though if I remember, but wateva the Revo settings are I am happy with the map and the way the car drives 100%. So I can't imagine there being any problems, but will ask anyway.
How did you notice there was a problem with your car??

Not so much of a problem however the settings Revo say to use without a uprated fuel internals on the pump should be set to 9. Why on earth was it set to 7 ? Maybe to advance the timing more to get more power... I spotted a problem with the Fuel when i brought Vag com and did some data-logging. It was only on the fuel that the pump could not keep up with the requested value. I also had a dip mid range on the graph which i think was related to the fuel problem.

It be good to know what settings you on though, i know every car is different but just what setting is your Fuel is set to  :happy2:

In theory if the car is asking for a requested amount of fuel and your boosting at full wot, and the fuel pump cant produce it then surely its gonna be bad. i.e running lean.. especially it was on boost it was happening.
