My car has done nearly 50k on its original spark plugs. I expressly asked VW to change them onmy last service but they said it didn't need it.

Basically bullsh*t though because I'm sure its not running as smoothly as it should. I've had new coil packs, DV, PCV and I'm still getting rough idle and rising revs at idle.

i had the rough idle and rising revs at idle a few weeks ago, changed the pcv and was perfect again, only a cheap part to replace, £33 from vw i think it was.

Plugs should be changed as part of the 4th year service.  :happy2:

Are these ok for a standard GTI

If you are standard then the BKR7EIX will be fine as they are now the standard heat range vw recommend. The 8s are a grade cooler and normally used in stage 2+ stage 3 applications. The only issue you may find with the 8s is that if you dont drive the car hard. The plugs may foul as they wont get hot enough to burn the deposits off.
