Ill come along to this, as a spectator. :drinking:.
I'm only a 'maybe', but I guess that as I'm only a spectator then it doesn't matter so much :drinking:

I'll have a word Nath. We chatted about the 3rd forum meet the other day and both said that we would attend, so I guess it is likely that we will come to this :happy2:
given the current attendance North/South split this is gonna be a true forum combined meet cant wait :jumping: :happy2:
Id love to come down and spectate.. but its a 3hr and a bit drive..
id head across to harlow to my other halfs aftewards and stay over, but wouldnt have a clue how to get there from superchips.. :scared:

Hey,
What is this - i'd like to come to meet a few people.
I'll be coming in my wide arch mk5 =) ( getting done this month )
Where abouts is this based ?
Rich
Thats a full house then! :jumpmove:
If anyone wishes to go on a reserve list and turn up on the day please feel free to add yourselves as it stands a chance we will have the odd one or two that may drop out nearer the time! :happy2:
Out of interest I take it that Superchips will do a Vagcom check and all that jazz before the maps? Might also be a shout if anyone with Vagcom wouldn't mind bringing it along to do some data logging throughout the runs?
Luke

....I would expect that all that would be automatically done by SC's dyno system and they'll have a laptop with VCDS hooked up anyway.
Does the dyno track/allign the wheels ?? ? ?
I haven't done this changing from 17" wheels to 19"
The wheels/tyres were alligned when i got them - and driving it atm everything feels smooth - so shouldnt need to bother, but i always like to double check.
Just to make it clear about this meeting.
It is primarily a forum meeting to have a chat and a nose around each other's cars. The rolling road side of it is just a side event.
Now that all the places on the rolling road are filled please dont think that its not worth attending.
It would be great if we could get lots more of our members down their making it an even better day. Please try and find the time to attend. :jumpmove: :jumpmove: :jumpmove: (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Ftomashandmilly%2FDaft_stuff%2Fsmiley_peace.gif&hash=57e8f5cc557f5cf3a9e2d45071376c6af950376e)

....Don't be such a girl! Ooops! You are one!
It's great getting up at 5 or 6am - Cool to be on the road seeing the dawn - Less traffic too. I love getting up that early and having a nice long day to enjoy. It's 3-4hrs for me to MK, depending on traffic.
Dont you need to be there for a safety briefing before they start the day??. If your on the rollers i mean. If your a bourboner/eater then doesnt matter what time you roll in obviously.
I know jkm normally request runners to be there for a briefing, and dont know how superchips do it?
i'll be having a lie in for once....40 mins at a nice leisurely pace should be enough.

its not like anybody is going to jump in the rollers, :signLOL:
they always say that but ive never actually had a briefing when i get there
Agree'd, its not everyday we do this, so like all the comments have been said, the later you leave , the longer your journey with more traffic... and the fun of a convoy is always a good fun.Dont you need to be there for a safety briefing before they start the day??. ....All the rolling road sessions I've been to have asked everyone to turn up on time and have given a briefing for insurance purposes. Sign a form too.
Look at it from the host organiser's point of view. Would you want everyone drifting in whenever they feel like getting up?
Besides, we are all representing this forum - Let's set a good example.
Robin,
We can't get there any earlier than 11ish because for e.g - Caz has to be up at 6am to meet me for 9am
I hope i'll still get a run on the dyno ?

....Well, out of courtesy to the host SC, I suggest that they are informed with an apology and so they know what to expect and can then do all they can in organising a sequence to accommodate you.
SteveP is our main liaison on this isn't he?
Anyone fancy meeting at Chievely services to head north?im there!, i expect Robin, and Lee will do aswell.

I would ask people do try to be there for the start, we have tried to find a central location to make it as fare as possible and it's not like we do this every weekend

What if I am not happy with the result?
If you are not happy with the results we offer a seven-day refund. Simply return your vehicle to its original settings and send your bluefin and your completed return form that came with your pack to Superchips using the address label supplied. Your statutory rights are not affected.

How about the OP (Greenie?) modifying the first post in this whole thread to show the most up to date list of entries and Bourboniers?
It would help trying to find it amongst 22 pages.
:drinking: :happy2:

So guys, it starts at 8am, is everybody planning on being there for that time??? What time will it finish?

There seems to be a bit of friendly competition building up between people so we thought we'd get involved with the action... this time we're not taking your money though!
Instead - we'll offer the winner on the day £20.00 worth of products :happy2:
Looking forward to it
Taryn and Jim

Not sure if i should be running Saturday guys, service is due in 200miles. What do you think? Its always a risk going on a dyno, thats a given, just wondering if im putting it under too much on the rollers.......... any thoughts?
Hurdy what time are you rolling out of sheffield?
dont be daft joe mine was on the ring with service now on it :signLOL:

Absolutely gutted! I am not going to be able to make tomorrow now. I was really looking forward to meeting people, choccy hobnobs and everything as well.
The chap who was covering my oncall for me, has just returned home from holiday last night to find his house burnt down so has a lot more things on his mind right now.
I hope we can arrange another event next year or something. I hope everybody has a good day.

Superchips rollers have been known to be a little on the "generous" side
There are a few who have been on other Rolling roads and so you basically could make a general statement about how they are performin rolling road against rolling road. The main thing is that you get a healthy power and torque curve. I'm not sure if the SC RR gives other readings too, but for those who have any issues with their graphs looking a wee bit on the dodgy side, then there will most likely be a few people there who'd hook you up to their Vagcom/VCDS. :happy2:
Wigit, are you going in your Scirocco or your Pirelli?

It's just that I thought I was on the reserve list for a run if a few dropped out that was all.

Have fun everyone!
Lol. Love how quiet it is round here now that everyone's gone to the meet! Normally I'd find four pages of unread posts but now, barely even one page! :signLOL:

292.3 for mine is absurd !! Did make me question why I paid £30 for what is quite obviously an innacurate reading...
But, great to meet you all, aside from the weather (again!) it was a great day :happy2:

Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone that made the effort to get there today despite the shocking weather conditions! I'm sure I'm not alone in saying despite the shi$$ty weather it was a cracking day and to have the likes of Autoperfection, VWR and VW Driver there just topped it off for me! :happy2:
Cheers,
Nath
Agreed,
Had a fantastic day, good to meet everyone.

Have to say gents, all of whom were much older than me, which made approaching people a little bit intimidating, but never the less your all a proper bunch of blokes and some of the pictures on the forum don't do justice to how good the cars look in person.
So all in all a top day :happy2:

On a more personal note thanks to MatEd30 for my 'package'. :drinking:
Thanks for my package too Hedge. Finishes the engine bay off nicely, although it will be coming off again soon for a spot of "dressing"
Yes I was very happy with my purchases from Taryn and Jim! Especially my 'Bargain'! :drinking:
Hi guys nice to see you lot again, hope you all remembered the after sun!!
305bhp seemed OK untill you see the boys with the upgraded fuel pumps, Yeh thanks alot John, I think i know what I'll be doing Monday morning, just been looking at the APR HPFP where's best to go VW Racing, JKM etc etc.
Gotta have it for Brunters :happy2:

maybe next time we have name tags?
Aren't you meant to be preparing for a wedding?!
What an immense day, all i can say is that those that didnt attend, you missed a great arranged day.Really wished I could have gone. Don't think going to an RR meet would have been sufficient justification for missing out a close mate's wedding. Real arse though - reception place was in the middle of nowhere in Dorset. Went through loads of villages and dodgy single track carriageways. Took an hour to get there in the sunny, dry weather. Took an hour and a half to get back through the pouring rain, thunder and lightning. Treacherous roads. Did about 30mph max for half the journey!
I think its your one finger salute which gives you away Robin! :laugh:I thought it was his zimmer frame! :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL:
Good turnout considering the weather, well happy with 229bhp for a standard gti, good to meet peeps :happy2:
RR, out of curiousity, what figures did your car acheive?
RR, out of curiousity, what figures did your car acheive?
he got around 276bhp i think!!!
Some people might be pleased to be given much higher numbers than expected but I can't say I'm impressed.
Also, a very impersonal service and lacking any further info/data - So opposite to JKM. I went to Superchips with a totally open mind.
I went to meet folks I've not spoken to before, cars I've not seen before etc.
I still maintain that if you take off 10% then you'll have a true reading.
Robin, as you respect Mark's view on things @ VWR why don't you speak with him about the SC rollers as from what he was saying to me they are happy with them and veryfied accuracy only the day before we were there?
I do agree that figures did seem high to me to, but then spot on with others?
For me the day was more about you orrible lot rather than the numbers my car produced. :happy2:

^^^^
Your number plate doesn't look sh!te, but I do have issues with your tow hook which nearly crippled me! Ironic but extremely funny that I had expressed concern about pedestrian safety at the Reading meet and then yesterday I walked into it without genuinely seeing it!!
snip...
What I found most interesting was the method of driving on the rolling road. Perhaps this is because it was a Maha roller and not a DD ?? But, the operator at Superchips (what was his name?) brought the car to a halt, and then slipped the clutch to get the car into what I assume was 4th or 5th gear? And continued accelerating from there. At JKM they don't let the car get to a halt, and start the run from a rolling point. I must admit, i wasn't too happy with them slipping the clutch in such a high gear..., but then again I'm probably just concerned about nothing.
snip....
Has Steve had chance to put a full list of results up yet do we know?
OK all, I did a little bit of filming on Saturday - not a huge amount as the weather was crap. I've just had a chance to dump the footage from my camera onto my mac and have not edited it at all but thought I would get something up on here. Please don't moan about the quality of the edit - it has not been edited, just sequenced.
Robin - the ending was just for you :happy2:
TC any update on when you'll be receiving the pictures from the bloke from VW driver?
Sorry for my ignorance but I can't remember his name for a damn.
Luke
Guys im confused with the doubts over the outputs.
The tfsi engine is considered one of the most conservative engines ref power output.
I've seen every single rr I've looked up on the internet and read in magazines that the tfsi tends to output 10% over factory claims. JKM is the only rr I've seen get such low figures. Its the same across europe and the states.
I find it hard to believe that this massive spread of results which run at almost exactly the same as the superchips rr are incorrect. I'm more inclined to believe jkm are very conservative. The fact the r32's and diesels ran as expected only makes me believe its not a question of the rr accuracy but the conservative claims vw put on the tfsi engines.
At the end of the day, the results matched exactly what all the different tuners claimed for their outputs.
Also remember, official figures are based on 95 ron fuel and vw state the fsi engine will produce more power on 98 ron and above.
This also ties to the fact that every single magazine out there have tested performance figures much quicker than the again conservative figures from vw.
VW state 0-60 at 7.2 secs for a manual gti
The slowest test ive seen is at 6.7 sec's with the majority around 6.5.
VW's brochure figures are normally to 100 KPH which is 62mph, and are based on a full tank of fuel and with an adult passenger.
Unless this has changed recently :rolleye:

That is correct thinking about it. Also includes luggage. Others don't do the same though, ford for example don't add any weight for their figures? So why are Vw playing the performance down? Does it lower insurance or something?

Yes, true - before I forget, how is the car going after your little encounter with a map? :happy2:
i dont care what ya'll saying bout it not being a true eading etc.. I love my extra found 18bhp and Im gonna keep it, god dam it! lol :P
oh nice to meet you btw appreciated you showing me how it works cheers :happy2:
Gotta be TBE, Milltek/Blueflame! :happy2:
.
....Well I found an extra 33 bhp and I'm sure that some will say that with my mods I was never as low as 240 bhp as on JKM's DD rollers.
Who really knows? Both Maha and Dyno-Dynamics are very highly rated rollers although Maha are apparently considered the dogs bollox in the industry.
I will continue to use JKM as a consistent reference and diagnostic to maintain the health of my engine, particularly as they have so much data logging.
The bottom line is how a car drives.

For sure though, no 2wd car in the world, unless it has flat tyres and a gearbox full of sand, loses anything like 30% of the engine's power in the transmission and tyres as many rolling road operators would try to have you believe"
Mine was second on the dyno and achieved 276
Mine was second on the dyno and achieved 276
Which was roughly in-line with the other Stage 2 cars such as Robin and TC yes -who also ran early on?
Is yours stage 2 Mark?
I'm sure I ran mine at about half 9 or so and that made 230 standard. Then Ben 'the wheel man' ran his about an hour or so later and that made 215 off the top of my head so I don't think the time comes into play with the results.
The one thing that I'm more happy about is that the power curves match up perfectly with what they should be so as far as I'm concerned theres no issues = Tuning commences
Luke
also phil mc ran 230 std ed30 and other std ed30 ran 260
Here is my graph - kindly provided by Jamie!
If anyone can make logical sense of it - to maybe help explain the higher than expected figure then feel free lol!

LOL, now I'm getting worried!!
Well thats that problem solved and put to bed. :grin:mine came back with 380bhp
I reckon we should have a dynolicious i-phone, app day somewhere. that would be just as clear.
Isnt that correct Joe :laugh:Well thats that problem solved and put to bed. :grin:mine came back with 380bhp

LOL, now I'm getting worried!!
IMO, Seems to be how it calculates the actual bhp thats questionable as like ive mentioned, the diesels and the V6 4wd cars read correct , but ALL 2.0TFSI's were all above and in a couple of cases all over the place.( DomT and Hurdys)as an example.
This happens at almost every RR day I go on and yet everyone loves to pull apart the results and dismiss the results. The day was good, the people brilliant and so in my book the day was an unmittigated success. The results are what they are and only the full readouts can give any insight into underlying differences.
My querry has always been, that intake temps have been taken from inside the car, which may tend to affect the TFSI/TSI engine calculations.
Inlet temp is measured by the dyno over obd, we do this to achieve consistency
oks, but why are the temps so different between cars??
My querry has always been, that intake temps have been taken from inside the car, which may tend to affect the TFSI/TSI engine calculations.
I think you need to go back and read Jamie's reply again Steve as your statement about the intake temps being taken from inside the car is incorrect.Quote from: Superchips
Inlet temp is measured by the dyno over obd, we do this to achieve consistency
i was only making an example john as your car has shed loads more done modification wise over Dominics. You like me, would of thought you would have more power achieved when the ammount of mods youve done. You should of got the Most on the day.
Im not trying to single anyone out john.In my case, my car as an example does not produce 254bhp!
Am I understanding this correctly....because my intake temps are very high the rolling road is compensating much more for it (to bring it to a crisp spring day as Jamie says), therefore meaning that my power numbers are higher as a result of more compensation?
Oh :sad1:
So realistically because my wheel hp is lower than Joe's it means that my car has got less power than his?
Ahh I understand now! Thanks for taking the time to reply John :happy2: :happy2:Geez Chris - what you doing on here before 7am
[/Goes to find the Thank You button, but it isn't there...]

:happy2:
Well I was happy enough with my 305Bhp untill I took the possible 10% increase into consideration and thought I was down on power.
I was passing Bedford yesterday a popped into The TT Shop, they plugged in a laptop and took it for a spin and sure enought it was showing 277Bhp to 280Bhp, almost exactly what you guys have been saying.
They just happend to have an uprated HPFP on the shelf so had it installed with the REVO stage 2+ software (well it would be rude not to).
They took it for another couple of runs and it is now showing a healthy 336Bhp :happy2: haven't had a chance to play myself as its been pissing down since.
Just out of interest I may pop back to Superchips RR for a run, its possible that it could show 370Bhp :jumping:
At the end of the day its how your car drives and wether your happy with it that is important, but it is hard not to get caught up in the numbers thing.
Looking forward to the strip at Brunters hoping to better my 13.8 now.
Neil
@SteveP : nice one :happy2: , any chance of grouping it by model to make easy comparisons? :drinking:
@Neil : I presume thats based on the VCDS airflow thing as they dont have a RR?
Dont tempt me with a HPFP ! I may even get into the 14's :signLOL:
Sounds good Neil :happy2:
Which pump did the TT Shop fit?

They use the Autotech fuel pump upgrade and keep them in stock, with the map it has transformed the (already fairly quick) car, form an orderly queue.
Great list Steve...... any chance of changing mine to actual BHP to 215?? (did i get the closest :jumping:) Torque is spot on though.197 is book for yours so dont worry too much Wheelman.
Regarding this debate of the the 10%, i am due a service on mine and i hope to be able to get it on the rollers straight after, 215 minus the 10% means my GTI is running at just 193.5
I will keep you posted
