Got the 4th year service done. Whilst going to pick up the car, I realised I hadn't asked for 5W-30 Longlife! Too stressed about making sure they didn't wash it (they didn't). Anyway, it's got 10W-40 in it and I know Teutonic_Tamer would be pleased (!).
Can it wait until 6 months and I'll get it flushed through?
Can I still give it some beans?
-
Did VW do the service. Are you sure its 10W40 not 5W40?
-
some dealers do put in 10w 40 i have had it it my car in the past its oil it will do it job don't worry about it  people don't half crap themselves when it comes to oil in a car
-
It's better than no oil. :xmassmiley:
-
It was listers VW, as recommended by Greeners and a few others. They've been bang on excellent otherwise. Not horrendously fussed but just surprised I didn't ask specifically for 5w-30

:signLOL:
It is approved by VW, on the plus side it's dirt cheap compared to Castrol Edge.
-
What's it say on the invoice stealth as the oil grade numbers? Check your book to and see what it says
-
I asked the chap and he looked and said 10W-40 and its what they all use on their cars. Will have a proper look later.
The drive home was awesome. The only way I could describe it is like a sex-wee but in your heart. I know I said I loved the DSG but driving the car again was immense. Now doubting whether DSG is all that.

can't really compare DSG in a diesel Golf estate to your Eddy lol
-
Yeah you can it's crap simple and boring and I hate the noise it's still an auto
-
... but a DSG Eddy is still faster than your car :booty:
:signLOL:
-
Nah it's not I have a diff and I don't care about the my car is faster then your car bullcrap it's how the car drives for me and handles and dsg does nothing for me at all.

Yesss but I'm sure th experience was dulled by the car you were in and the engine you've got.
You could put a GT-R gearbox on a Micra, but you'd still be driving a Micra lol.
ETTO anyhow, in my eyes the DSG gives you the flexibility of a manual but with the convenience of a slush box, and in a like for like comparison it's faster and more consistent.
The only negative for me is the potential for expensive reliability issues, but as always you're more likely to hear horror stories because people are more likely to ask for guidance on problems. This is also offset by the fact the clutches can handle a remap
-
True, but when I got back into my manual and drove, it was like a pure melding of man and machine. When you do everything right - clutch, gear change, gas, steering - when it really comes together you just can't beat it.
I can also see why people go for larger paddle shifters.

this i can't really argue with :ashamed:
