Hi,
I've picked up a 2007 GTi which I'm very pleased with! However it has a (dealer fit?) iPod connector in the glove box which doesn't charge my iPhone. I gather Apple made some change to their connector pins which explains why this doesn't work.
Does anybody have a simple solution for this? Can I replace the cable that connects back to the MFD2 head unit with a newer one?
Alternatively I've seen some iPod/iPhone connection adapters which might be the solution, but I'd like to know if anybody has been successful with these.
Thanks!

you need an mdi to charge the iphone and in the process a newer head unit

It's Apple's fault for changing the charging. A cheap fix is an adapter:

Is the mdi package needed to use a iphone with rns510 as im currently in the process of gathering all the parts for a retro fit. I currently have the arm rest dock which plays the iphone but does not charge.
Does the mdi offer more features other than just to charge the phone?
