Title: RS4 fuel valve help
Post by: JackG on December 21, 2011, 09:16:20 pm
I've got my Other bits and bobs ready for stage 2+ but I'm worried about the RS4 fuel valve I got the part number off the for by having a search and bought one, is is meant to look like a peice of threaded bar with a hole in the middle  :signLOL: thought it may look like a valve

How do I go about fitting it and were does it fit? I'm doing a THS cooler soon so would it make ease of access when I'm fitting the cooler or doesn't it matter? I've heard it's a PITA to fit but I don't even know we're it goes at the moment  :notworthy:
Cheers guys
Jack

It's the brass fitting at the underside of the intake manifold.

That looks like the bit! Under the manifold?! Does it have to come off?

just out of interest i read somewhere that it's worth fitting this on all versions of tune if you're getting the cam follower inspected/changed.

what are people's views on this?

IMO only needed for stage 2+ cars...

Would it have any benefit of fitting one of these without a uprated HPFP?

Not really as unless your map is requesting 130 bar it would be wasted.
Standard valve cracks at 130 bar whilst the rs4 one is 136 bar.

ah ok. i vaguely remember reading on here that the valve gives out in the mid range, and can cause fuelling issues which are improved with the RS4 valve

it was more of a "it's not a very expensive part, so you might as well do it" type of thing

I tried fitting this, gave up after two attempts! Get someone else to do it. Nothing like the cam follower. Thats meant to be changed regularly. This is a pig. Most people who are running stage 2+ need it, apart from that, dont bother. I only changed mine as it was making a noise. changed it a the noise disappeared.

I did mine and it took me about 3.5 hours, that's with grinding down spanners, making a trip to Halfords after getting too happy with the angle grinder and lots of just staring at the engine.
Would I do it again.... No!
I wish I'd just paid BDM an hours labour to do it.
I only changed mine to try and get rid this whooshing type noise... made fook all difference to the noise but my butt dyno told me the car did go a little better.

yep cutting down spanners is needed for this job . unsure how this would make any difference to any noise ? its a pin hole type valve

I'd tried everything else and the noise was really annoying me. I only changed it because I'd read on this forum that it cured the type of noise that I was getting so I gave it a go. It worked for them but unfortunately not for me. On the + side I'm sure performance improved slightly so I'm glad I did it.

PSI tuning and Midland VW are probably closer. I can vouch for both of them. Never got any work done from Awesome and I have no reason to doubt their work, but they're a little pricey
