As above.
I'm currently around 29mpg at stage 2+ was 35 in summer.
Also anyone noticed more of a mpg drop since having decat?
-
Yep same here strange how that happens, suppose its down to running more petrol sapping eliments, heater, demister, wipers i normally seen about 38mpg but now roughly 31 ish lol im at stage 2 ko3 :signLOL:

Its more to do with the cold dense air... more air=more fuel= less MPG
On a 190mile run yesterday I got about 28.5mpg... but I wasn't hanging around.
-
I had a reasonably steady commute to work yesterday and saw 56.8 mpg. Mostly national speed limit A roads with a few 30's in there aswell.

Love cold dense air = more power

Haha :P

You'll get slightly more fuel as well when filling up when its cold, as the fuel contracts. :rolleye:
-
i got 33 mpg today while commuting on a 15 mile distance, but it's balmy 12 degrees in Dublin, when close to zero It would be 28mpg ca

I get an average of around 30 in mine, 20 mile trip with mostly motorway @ 70(ish)

Nottingham - Doncaster, 65 on M1. 36avg, pleasantly surprised :)

You can't drive a stage 2+ car at 65MPH... :stupid:

^hence why i never understood the above as an explanation
-
Mine only does a 8 mile windy trip most mornings to work and have noticed a drop from about 29 down to 27.
-
Averaging 28 as usual through the winter compared to 32 in the warmer months which is to be expected really
Longer on cold start / rich running due to cold temps
Tyre pressures drop in the cold increasing rolling resistance
Extra frictional losses due to all the fluids, oils and greases in the car becoming less viscous
Increased electrical load (heated seats, rear screen, lights etc) increasing the mpg
More aerodynamic drag on the car due to the increased density of the colder air
Winter sucks but cold dense air is officially turbocharger approved... :signLOL:
-
I hit 72 mpg on the way to work today  :jumpmove:
Thats a derv for you!

As I understand it, low temp fuel consumption is typically higher due to prolonged warm-up increasing the duration of cold temp enrichment, combined with poorer part throttle fuel atomisation when at normal water / oil temperature due to the lower air temp. Perhaps there are also very slightly increased pumping loses due to a marginally narrower throttle opening for a given crank torque / power. On top of that there are the other factors mentioned above - increased electrical load, mechanical friction losses, and other parasitic losses.

Was shocked to get an average 33mpg on a 160mile round trip peaking at 39mpg for a while yesterday!!! never seen it average above 30 before or seen figures over 34 at any speed lol

I reckon I'm getting an average of about 29 at the moment, but that includes a lot of stop/start around suburbia. I'm gonna try turning the climate off once I'm demisted, and see if that makes a difference.

My average per tank has gone down to 33.6mpg .....
..... Not bad for a 3.0 twin turbo diesel :happy2:

What car is that on? 123D?

Nah, it's my 335d coupe .... 3.0 ..... The 123d is a 2.0 twin turbo

Doh... of course it is. Thats pretty good MPG for that engine and power. :happy2:
