Ok, so my contract with Orange ends on the 22nd on January so I phoned them today (exactly 30 days beforehand) to see what deals they could offer me, a loyal customer. I'm currently using an iPohne 3GS so want to upgrade to the 4S. Orange said that they can't offer anything better than the deals on their website with regards to iPhone 4S so I requested (and have recieved) my PAC code from them.I made sure to do this exactly 30 days before my contract ends as Orange say they need 30 days notice otherwise I would get charged an extra month's line rental.
So my question is - where to go to get the best deal on an iPhone 4S?
My usage is fairly low so I don't need mega amounts bundled in. Think my average stats (over the last 6 months) are:
- Calls = 100 mins
- Texts = around 600
- Data = under 400MB
I don't mind paying an amount for the handset so long as the ovverall deal is good. Also ideally it would be on Vodafone as they are by far the best for reception around mine and the girlfriend's house.
So far I have seen a 24 month contract with 300 cross-network mins, Unlimited texts, 500MB Anytime Mobile Internet Browsing + 1GB BT Openzone Wi-Fi + Vodafone Data Test Drive. All this for £26/month and £160 for the handset
Anybody else out there found any better deals?
I have 30 days to use my PAC so do you think phone companies will offfer deals after Xmas?

I'd personally buy outright from Apple and get a SIM only tariff from Three.
-
Yeah, that is a possibility. Involves a high up front cost tho and seen its is Christmas money is not in abundance at the mo.
Thanks for the suggestion tho.

I am also a low usage user. I've got my own Iphone 4 and have just moved to Tesco (they use O2 network) on a sim only deal 500 mins, 5000 texts, 1 GB data @ £12.50 per month (3 month contract) Keep an eye out in the for sale section Iphones do come up for sale

Thats what i did except use giffgaff instead of three.. £10 unlimted texts and internet and 250 minutes.. no contract..

There was a web site on it. Straight out buy and Tesco 12.50 comes in at £33.33 per month over 2 years and is cheapest. O2 will do a free phone for £42 a month and if you up front £100 I think that drops to £39 ish overall. Try searching on google

I'm with 3 and on the one plan all you can eat data for £35 a month and £99 upfront.

Cough, 2x iPhone 4S for sale - save £60 over Apples price and 2 weeks wait, cough. :xmassmiley:
Seriously though, sim free is the cheapest whole life cost. Fronting the cash at the start for the handset is by far and away the best way to get into iPhone ownership.

Deffo buy up front and sim free from voda or giff gaff (o2) is a tenner a month. I'd keep the 3GS, get Christmas over with and buy and iPhone 5 next year as it will be awesome.

iPhone 5/6 is still 10 months away though. Cant argue that the 3GS is still a good bit of kit, but if you buy sim free, you can still realise the cash from your 4S sale come 5/6 release time. :happy2:

I am quite tempted, buying up front is the way to go.

trendy as it sounds Tesco credit card are doing 15 months interest free on new purchases with their card. See if you can get one of them, buy the 4S from apple and then make sure you pay it off before the 15 months is up.

Thanks for the offer. And thanks for the advise guys. Got another option now too. I could keep my 3GS for 6-8 months until the iPhone 5 comes out. Will probably be out anywhere from June to autumn methinks.
So any suggestions for a sim only, preferably 30 or 90 day rolling contract that'd cover 300 mins, 500MB data and 600+ texts. Not too bothered what network as it'll be temporary until the new iPhone reveals itself. :happy2:

Most networks offer sim only for 10 - 15 a month, I think giff gaff offer the most mins and texts for money.
