Title: Mk5 gti service
Post by: housemouse on December 23, 2011, 09:23:18 pm
My 08 plate golf gti mk5 had it's 30,000 mile service today but reading through it didn't have a new fuel filter. I asked the service bloke why it wasn't changed he just said that the computer said it didn't need one  Could anyone tell me when the fuel filter is due to be changed? As 10,000 miles for a performance car i would have thought that it would be due a new fuel filter?!

Thanks

Officially, the fuel filter replacement isn't part of any scheduled service.  According to VW, it is a 'lifetime' component.

However, common sense would be to replace it every 4 years or 40k miles - maybe up to 6yrs 60k miles if you are tight.

2 yrs 20k miles is a tad premature - unless you add sand to your fuel!  :P
