Title: New member... on the hunt for a GTI
Post by: mrobbie on December 23, 2011, 10:19:40 pm
Hi, just signed up as I am on the hunt for a GTI as a 2nd car.

Bit of a VW fan over the years, having owned at some point the following:

Mk3 GTI 16v
Mk4 GTI 20VT
Mk3 VR6
Mk3 GTI 16v
Corrado VR6
Mk5 R32

Now looking for a Mk5 GTI, preferably a black 3 door DSG, leather and sat nav, below 40k miles, 2006/07 car...  quite a specific wish list, some essential and some not so, but hey, you need to start somewhere to determine what you want!

Looking forward to hunting through the site to get ideas and advice

Mike

Hello and welcome, this one looks just like you want, only the mileage which isn't quite what you want. Looks well cared for too. :happy2:

is there a reason why I cannot post replies in the for sale section?  is there a post count limit or something?

I had seen that one in the for sale section tonight along with a few others.  None meet the miles I am looking for.  Have cash waiting for the right car at the right price though.

So I need 25 posts to post a for sale ad, but I am just trying to reply to one - same post limit applies?

Just as a point of reference, a 29K 3 dr DSG in black with FSH and full alloy refurb just went for 11k at Buckinghams in Maybury, Woking, Surrey.

Well, I'm back...

I grabbed an opportunity to buy a very low mileage, 1 owner BMW E46 320ci M Sport (it was a 53 plate with 14k miles - now just turned 17k) at the start of January and it is an absolute minter, however I now have the feeling that I should have stuck to my original plan and kept hunting for a GTI.

So, after owning the BMW for 3 months, I'm back on the hunt for a GTI, this time with an increased budget which may stretch to a Edition 30, and so would probably increase the miles to < 60k to broaden the choice.

Hindsight - its a wonderful thing!
