I need to kick into touch my car cleaning, especially as I have had my mk5 painted!. I see gilmour do a snowfoam bottle that just connects to a hose.
Has anyone tried one of them?
I am guessing they are quite reliant on decent mains water pressure?
Thanks

I have one and it's pretty good, but as you say, you need an outside tap with very good pressure (mine is like a fire hose!), and it's quite sensitive to the products you use with it.

Depends. If you have a pressure washer, I'd go for a foam lance. If you don't then a Gilmour will be okay. I was looking at buying one of these, then noticed Karcher did one for their foam lance. Bought that and wished I hadn't.

+1 - You will get far better results with a foam lance , ok they will cost a little more but worth every penny :happy2:

I'm sure the question implies he doesn't have a pressure washer...

Thats how i took it :happy2:
Gilmour foam master II i think is the current model... should be ok on the hose if you dont have access to a dedicated lance on the jet wash.
The foam wont be a dense as you'd get with the jet wash / lance but it will be better than nothing. Getting a decent foam product and using on the fullest setting should do you fine.

For less than £100 you can get a decent pressure washer and foam lance, I would say that's your best bet
I have used the ones you attach to your hose and there just pointless

Thanks for the input chaps.
I do actually have a pressure washer - a cheap a nasty/cheerful 'Tooltec' that was bought in Netto!
It came with a detergent bottle that fits on the lance but doubt it will 'foam' up?
The reason I asked about none pressure washer snow foaming is that I'm not sure on the practicalities of me rigging up the washer every time I wash the cars...its a bit of a clat due to the proximity of sockets to where I do the washing...and I'm lazy to rig it all up.
Perhaps I ought to buy some foam and see if this cheapo machine can foam it up.

Might be worth getting a hose extension? My PW stays in the garage and I just take the lance around the car.

I agree using a presure washer and lance will give the best results.
I was able to get a Karcher pressure washer for £40 from the outlet store http://www.karcheroutlet.co.uk (http://www.karcheroutlet.co.uk)
They were really good, quick delivery and so far has been working great!!

Remember the longer the hose you use the less pressure you'll get at the snow foam end........
