Title: Making a good "datum" 2.0 TFSI for tuning?
Post by: George on December 26, 2011, 03:17:55 pm
I'm picking up my newly purchased Edition 30 this week and my first task is to get the car to a good "datum" state for tuning. The car is going to be Stage 1 for the moment then tuned to Stage 2/2+ in the future and will be used as a daily driver.

I know there are common problems with the PCV system, but there are various threads scattered around various forums. What's the ultimate fix?

What is the latest revision of the dump valve, is it still Rev D? And is this still the optimum part?

Thanks

The only reason I asked (I'm quite interested in English language) is that I've never heard the word used. I know it's meaning, though I've never associated it with the word standard.

Anyway, back to the questions. A lot of people are going for the BSH PCV fix, but I've also read that many people have had issues with it. I went for the new OEM PCV which has been updated recently.

And yes, the Revision D diverter valve is the latest one.

A datum is more of a bench-mark, starting line or reference point where you would begin from and work up from there (in terms of power/torque/etc). I presume that's what the OP means.

Correct, I should have worded it better really. I just want to get the car into a as best state for tuning as possible.

Have you got any info on these issues please buddy?

Or the next level up would be 'blue-printing'.

You can check your pcv by removing the plastic accordion hose from the pcv array on the front of your valve cover underneath the engine cover from the port on the intake manifold.  If you can blow through it into the valve cover, you have a failed check valve in your pcv array.

The first few versions were weak and failure prone.

We have not experienced a significant number of failures with newest revision which I believe ends with an F.

Revision D is still the better plastic piston electronic dv which is virtually bullet proof as opposed to previous versions that were rubber diaphragms that tore easily.
