Title: Torque settings
Post by: vRS_Pagey on December 27, 2011, 01:09:23 pm
Guys, I have just got my S3 calipers back from powder coating and need to reassemble them.  The 4 x torx bolts which hold the coloured part of the caliper to the metal body housing the piston are M12 and as best as I can tell the number stamped on the top of the bolt is 10.9, using a guide I have for work that combination suggests a torque setting of 115nm?  Does that sound about right?

I doubt there would be a torque figure for them on elsawin as its not a part that's taken apart for any really reason.

Going for the correct torque on the size of the bolt and strength rating is the best bet which you have found.

If its 115nm then go for that.  Seems a little bit more than I would go as most m12x1.5 wheel bolts are 90nm.

Thanks for the response Alex, I thought it was a bit high (it's not a Scania wheel after all).
I think I will go for 100 nm and see if my mechanic agrees.
