Title: Rear De-wipering
Post by: E30Dom on December 29, 2011, 04:52:20 pm
When fitting a wiper blank, is there anyway of deactivating the rear wiper and rear wash? Or is it a case of unplugging and blocking washer pipe like on my olf mk4 i had once...

Cheers

Dom

I think there's an option in VCDS that tells the car if a rear wiper is installed or not. Can only assume this turns the rear wash off an all

There is a coding option in the steering controller that tells it if it has a rear wiper installed so yes you are able to code it out.

Does it NEED to be coded out?

I dont have vcds. If i just removed the components and blacked off the washer fluid pipe woulf this cause any problems?

Tbh I don't know if it needs to be done or not. Best thing to do would be to try it without coding it out and see if it throws a fault. Just make sure the pipe is blocked off properly incase you forget yourself and try washiing the the window.

I removed the rear wiper and I didn't code anything.
No problems. No orders from the switch.
Because I'm curious I re-install the wiper and everything worked as it was meant to work.
Removed again and everything is OK.
Just black off the pipe so you have no leak from the fluid that is already in the pipe.
You don't have to code nothing.......from my experience.

so what happened if you had the stalk in the position for the wiper or you pressed for rear wash?

When you have no wiper installed nothing happens even when you press the rear wash.......absolutely nothing.

If you re-install the wiper everything will work as before.....and the wiper and the rear wash.
