Anyone heard about cold start problems with the A1?
The Mrs has had her 8 month old A1 1.4 TFSI back at Audi (Harold Wood) for a month now trying to find out why it struggles to start up cold,
they replaced the injectors, pump, filter & ECU now their waiting to here from Germany what to do next!!
Can't complain about the loan car though, had an A6 for a few weeks, she said it was like driving around in a bungalow :signLOL:

I was under the impression they were all the same, i may be wrong though

Neil check on Briskoda, one of the guys with the same engine seems to have had it sorted, apparently needs an engine ecu update? his was doing it from new and was told for some time that there was nothing wrong with it??
There's now a VW bulletin

Pretty positive the 1.4 TSI is just a turbo unit only? Or is that the 1.2 TSI?
-
^^^ The lower power 1.4TSI is a turbo only unit (122ps IIRC) the 185ps one in the A1 is the twin charged motor (like the Polo GTI).
-
What's with the pic of the A3?

Are you sure? I don't think any Audi uses the twincharged engine
TSI and TFSI are just names, just like DSG and S-tronic. The Mk6 GTI has a "TSI" engine, but the TT and A5 2.0Ts have the same engine and have TFSI written on the back. It's just a name

Andrew Neil was just showing the courtesy car they gave him :happy2:

The A1 is definitely available with the twincharger 1.4...

100% sure the 185ps A1 is the same twin charged engine as the Polo GTI etc

Ahhh, he said A6 in the post, just getting confused :xmassmiley:

Wrong, with almost everything you said. But nevermind. Its Christmas............ :drinking:

So I stand corrected regarding the twincharged engine in the A1... what else am I wrong about? It isn't Christmas anymore. Don't hold back :happy2:

There are 12 days of Christmas. :santa:

Fair enough. But a quick look at autotrader reveals that with the exception of the comment re: the A1 I'm not wrong so in future I'd appreciate it if you kept your condescending comments to yourself, or at least post a constructively worded correction.
Happy new year

In the same vein posting up the correct information would also be useful!

So just to clear things up which one of the 1.4 engines in the A1 has this problem? Is it the turbo only engine? or the super charged and turbo'ed engine?
My dad has the lower powered one and does not seem to be having any troubles in the cold. Not that it gets used much.
-
Hi, thanks for your feedback,
The Mrs A1 is the 1.4 TFSI Sport, 122 PS pretty sure this lower Hp is just Turbo.
@mortygttdi they have done the ECU as well as replacing other parts, their waiting for Germany to go back to work to get some advice now.
She had a ridiculous 3.0 TDI A6 for a couple of weeks and now has the A3, its a neck braking 1.2
On the plus side it doesn't have the power for her to drive it up a kerb and get beached (again) :signLOL:
-
Hope you get it sorted Neil :happy2:

I had cold start issues with a mk4 150 bhp diesel. Had the ecu checked, temperature sensor and relays replaced, new fuel pump. Eventually found out that it was the injector seals. Shouldn't really happen on a newer car but worth checking.
-
She got it back today, turned out to be the Low Pressure Fuel Pump.
We did get a weekend away, meal for 2, full tank & Valet clean to say sorry it took so long

Nice one Neil sounds like a really good dealership?
