Well out the blue this afternoon my car has decided it no longer wants to work, was fine this morning when I drove to work then at lunchtime I started it up and it cut out, and everytime you start it, it would cut out straight away, then I'd have a load of lights on the dash, ABS, airbag, TC etc and the fans would keep switching on and off for no reason.
The RAC man came and plugged in his computer which threw up loads of codes, about not being able to connect to the gateway etc, we tried to reset the car and clear the codes but sadly that had no effect, so now its just sat at the garage, the RAC man spoke to VAG technical chap and they think its the clocks casuing all this which causes the immobiliser to kick in, anyone know of or had similar happen to them??

im new to VAG but come from a technical side working with Rs Focus's, it has been known for this to happen before as my pals audi a3 had similar issue. have you got warrenty with the car? :confused:

Yea I paid extra for a warranty, at the min the garage is going through the wiring side of things first which I'll have to pay for so I may know more tomorrow, just wierd how one min its working, then suddenly its not lol.

Ah ok. If it was the 170 I'd have suspected the injectors. Not sure on the 140.

Yea this is a really odd one, it drove fine to work yesterday morning with no issues, then the alarm went off randomly a couple of hours later which we put down to the strong winds then started it up on my lunch and it would always cut off the moment it started and left my dash with lots of flashing lights.

Very strange. Do you have or know anyone with access to vagcom? Might be easier if you can post the fault scan.

I can't remember all the codes that came up on the RAC's lil computer but I had codes for airbag, ABS, TC etc it wouldn't clear the codes or communicate with the gateway it said, and I had a random fan code as the cooling fan kept coming on and off when the ignition was on, also noticed when it was towed to the garage that the indicators wouldn't work either.

Still no nearer to getting this resolved, the garage now wants to try a standard stereo in it as for some reason they keep thinking its to do with that, even though I've had my Pioneer in the car now for 8 months and it was still working fine when I dropped off the car.

Finally found the fault today, my can gateway module had water get in which messed up the unit, on back order at VW but managed to get one from a kind person on here, so all being well should have the car back on the road this week :happy2:
