Title: Brake caliper plate???
Post by: DJM on January 05, 2012, 01:36:42 pm
Im after part number or name or any info really.

I seen on someones members ride thread that they had sort of plates on the brakes with a R on. Covered the pad in middle of caliper area. Could be seen through the wheels. Looked really good but cant find them anymore.

Was a VW part as far as im aware. Unsure if they had r32/s3 brake set up though. I only got standard brakes on my GTi but wondered if I could get them for mine.

As far as I'm aware they are just wire springs on standard gti calipers.

The pad retaining clip/springs with the plates on are just on the S3/R32 calipers  :happy2:

No reason why you couldn't have a piece of 2mm steel welded to the spring clip, then spray it all and fit a sticker???  When I painted the calipers on swmbo's GT (same calipers as the GTi) I removed the spring, it won't cause any problems while the brakes are fitted, just a thought!  :indifferent:

The S3 retaining clip does look good, but then I'm biased.......

Is that def the right one? Only reason I ask is that I ordered a pair of clips before now and when they came they were the standard clips that have the metal square part on the front.

It's the right part number for the S3 version yeah

Normal R32 plain clip without 'plate' is:  1KO 615 269
Black with silver 'R' (Golf R and Scirocco R) is:  1KO 615 269 B
Red with plain Red 'plate' (MK2 Leon Cupra R) is:  1PO 615 269 - not checked this to be 100% correct as yet though
