Well, after a nasty surprise landed on my doorstep today I am now thinking of getting rid of my Gti, I paid £570 last year and this year direct line are looking for £750. I have got 7 years NCB that's protected, with 1 blame accident 2 years ago, which was a very minor one, I knocked a wing mirror of a car due to getting totally blinded by the sun as I turned a corner, I wanted to sort it myself but the person wouldn't have none of it.
I only had my Gti since August and had an a4 cabriolet before that and that was cheap to insure compared to the golf. I love my Gti and don't mind that it drinks a lot of petrol compared to my previous diesel cars, I knew what I was buying into on that score. I have shopped around a bit and have found some other quotes which are slightly cheaper but it's really bugging me that at the age of 36 and 1 accident on my record, i am lookin at paying £750 on car insurance.
Might have to sell up and get another Audi diesel :ashamed:

i am lookin at paying £750 on car insurance.
Man up. I was paying £700/yr when I was in Dorset but when I moved home, my premiums went up by another £1400. Renewal with directline was £3000. Went with Sky Insurance and paid £700.

Tried Adrian flux, was a decent quote £603, but then another £100 on top for monthly payment charges, not got the cash to pay up front, went a bit mental on presses this Xmas and booked a holiday last week, wiped me out :sad1:

Sorry to say i pay 480 pounds a year with breakdown cover in there and legal cover which is lilkely to be a waste of time. thats with more than.
Though at has double in three years so you can work out the rest yourself.
I would be running a gti with insurance at 1000 pounds a year second thoughts yes you would
