So like a goonie i kerbed my front passenger alloy on Tuesday :scared: :fighting:
I've finally worked myself back down from climbing the wall with anger at myself and realised that it's not the end of the world and easily rectified for about 80 quid.
Now the question is do i get it refurbed ASAP stop the possibility of white worm and return to the warm glow feeling of having 4 pristine wheels or do i give it a few months in case i or the wife decide to add to the 'collection' and get my money's worth out of the refurb :grin:
any thoughts?

Lol, I was doing that the first time as well, but it gets easier to handle the more you add to the 'collection' :wink: :laugh:
I reckon you should wait at least till winters over.

wait till winter is over, plus £80 seems abit pricey for a wheel refurb. 40-50 is right specially if its light damage.

The 18" Monza's are normally that price to refurb due to more work involved in refurbing them.
Some people put a bit of lacquer over the damaged part of the wheel to stop moisture getting in and white worm starting

It's horrible when it happens. I did my front nearside one about 3 months ago. Just touched the keb when I had a sneezing fit whilst parking. Was sick as a parrot when I realised what had happened..
As these are machined wheels, the whole wheel will need re-machining and it should only be attempted by a company with the appropriate high speed lathes. You will lose the sharpness of the edge of the shiny rim. These wheels can only be fixed once, trust me.
Or, you can powder coat all of them after which repairing kerb damage does not require machining the whole face, just filling and re coating.
Lepsons are pretty good at repairing machined Monzas. Not cheap to fix. £80 at least. Don't go for a cheap job on a wheel which costs nealry £500 RRP.
As a temperory measure cover the damaged portion with lacquer for protection.
Once these machined Monzas are repaired, they never look quite as sharp to the critical eye.

I know a garage in manchester/ stockport area that'll do the job for 40-50. That's their standard price per wheel for wot they class as general repair.

I need all 4 done, as my Mrs is shocking at parking, and kerbs them on a weekly basis, but there's no point until She gets her VW Up!, cos she'll only do it again the day I get it back from the refurb!

Cheers for everyone's thoughts :happy2:. The wheels are already powder coated in silver - that's how they were when i bought it so it will be a relatively easy job of filling, lacquering and re-painting. I'll wait until March/April to get it done and in the meantime i'll give them a wash tomorrow, a couple of seals and a couple of coats of wax, that should keep the worm away for a month or so.

She's a blonde with 32G's on board, so she tends to get away with murder! I can't wait until she gets her little motor, though, so I can get them diamond-turned refurbed, and kept aside for summer. I'll then get some reps with winter tyres on. Wish VW would hurry UP!

Just minutes before I typed this, I heard a crunch from outside and seconds later an unholy scream. My neighbour has just kerbed the nearside wheels of his month old Aston Martin DBS.
I don't know whether to hug him in sympathy or slap him in anger.

No 18s and therefore easier to kerb :grin:
I'm guessing the previous owner had a problem with kerbing or/and whiteworm so got them powder coated to save the hassle. The wheels look sweet (or at least 3 of the 4 do :ashamed:) as the car and wheels are reflex silver so everything is uniform
