I was just thinking to my self, there was a scare not that long ago about mot regulations not allowing remapping as of this year but it turned out to be chipping - eg the cheap piggyback systems for ecus this was to stop vehicle fires.
Anyway this got me thinking what car would i actually buy if the government outlawed modifying it ?
Me personally i buy a car on its tuning potential and trying to see how it would be when its finished as do alot on here, and i was wondering is there any cars out there id want to own if i couldnt do this anymore ?(a one car for everthing)
I do a couple trackdays and i was thinking about the e46 m3 but remembered that the brakes are pants so i couldnt get that in stock form! The e90 m3 is still out of budget as is the golf r so theyre out, i know ive got one so im a bit biass towards them but at the moment the only things i think would be the mk2 focus rs or the new clio cup ?
I was just wondering what you guys would have as i cant really think of any
-
R26R perhaps?
-
911 of some kind
M3
Evo or scoobie
Focus rs (bit chav but) same as above
Meg r26 r
-
I couldnt have the r26r id have no where to put the baby, same with the 911 for me or they would be top of my list
-
I would just buy a more expensive hot hatch with more power and equipment as standard.
Ford are the best choice hot hatch wise, because Mountune are a recognized Ford tuner with Ford sponsored Warranty, and you can buy their packages straight from the show rooms. So there's a tuning market right away on that front. Mini also have the same outlook on tuning with their John Cooper Works packages.
I expect other manufacturers might follow suit, but i really couldnt see VAG doing it.
Then theres cars like the lancer EVO X, which come in many power specs, 300hp, 330hp, 360hp, 400hp etc
Focus RS for me as well

E92 M3
E60 M5
BMW1m
Audi RS3
Noble m12
Or a fun diesel for everyday and buy a caterham type vehicle for fun.
-
M5 probably!
-
R35 GTR
-
some sort of 911 or M5
-
Screw driving a renultsport :signLOL: and a focus, I'd take the 911 or M3
Or even a DC2/5 integra type R
-
A car I couldnt mod?!?
I'd like to see them try and stop me

In all honesty, I always wanted a Golf GTI. The fact that it was an ED30 that I bought was a bonus. Hence anything I could do to the car would have been icing on the cake.
So....I'd still have bought a Golf GTI.
-
I bought it! Its an ED30!! :star:
-
RS6
-
Money no object? If i could afford it, a 911 GT3 RS. I dont need space for kids, as there arent and never will be any! :happy2:
-
Never really modded any of my cars, infact, dubs are the only cars that I think work well with mods, I love the bagged stuff, as for performance mods, I just think buy a performance car and it should do what it says on tin.
-
RS6
x2 Immense car out of the box... Awesome to drive...
-
rs3
-
R35 GTR :driver:
This :happy2:
-
Cayman R if I could afford one :sad1:
-
BMW M3 or an AUDI RS6...
Problem is not buying these cars its the running cost's thanks to astronomical price of fuel.
I would imagine if there was a significant price drop on petrol then these cars would go up in price.

For sensible (sort of) money: Megane 265 Trophy.
Upping the budget a lot: Nissan GTR in 2012 spec, asymmetric chassis spec.
Reckon that could be an interesting pub conversation, though I'm sure the ladies would run a mile when you mentioned your different sided spring rates..
Really upping the budget: new Pagani "Howeverit'sspelt" whenever it comes out.
