Hey,
Wanna get the golf remapped, starting to do my research, REVO quoted £600, there is no way im paying that much...
Just spoke to Bryan at Radical Remaps, works remotley around the South West, anyone have experience of him? he's quoted £300.......
If not, can anyone recommend Remapping in the South West? cheers.....

www.southwestincartech.co.uk did mine and a few of my mates cars. Ring speak to Mark mentune jas(me) and barney a mate of mine and hill sort you out. I'm running 267bhp ATM and very reliable

Excellent, i picked up your post yesterday, it now seems to have vanished...
anyhow, have contacted the company you recommend to get a quote, can you tell me any more about them?
did you get your golf done? how much did it cost you?
-
Mobile remaps can be risky, make sure you understand exactly what you are getting before paying out any cash, the amount of re-remaps we carry out is shocking, people buy cheap mobile remas, have problems, struggle to get them back and give up. Then pay again to have the work corrected.
Any tuner worth using will have fully insured premises and preferably dyno facilities.

Where in the southwest are you? I'd suggest a trip to R-Tech up near Birmingham.
-
thanks PDT, thats good advice, ill take that onboard and avoid mobile mappers!
im in bristol, a trip up to bham is dooable for me, how much would they charge for a stage 1? is this where you got your car done?
thanks both

There's the prices. Yeah that's where I went, from Bristol as well. Give Nick a call, they're really helpful.
-
oh cool, where about's in Bristol? I live in Clifton...
will check out the prices, what did you go for on your golf? quite a mission to head up to the Midlands though....
have you noticed the difference in performance?
-
You will get a much better final result with a drive to Nick than just a mobile tuner.

Big difference in performance, I had a custom stage 1 done. I'm near Bradley Stoke so not far from you :happy2:

The ECU is a cars brain, would you pay a doctor to come out and do surgery on your brain at home? Best go to hospital and get it done were they have all the tools :happy2:
My way of putting it :signLOL:
Good luck :drinking:

When you look into maps it's a minefield, like this thread "has anyone tried here, there etc etc" Revo have allways been good and because of this there well known for there maps so I guess it's just less hassle to pay for one try know is going to be good without without any hassle :driver:

The cost of maps is largely based on the development costs. I know a guy that buys his remap files from Lithuania for 20 Euros, charges customers £150. I have looked at these maps and although they are modified, they certainly have not had any development work, more guesswork i.e 2-3 boost maps increased by a blanket change of 12% and no change to fuelling or ignition advance maps etc.... comparing it to a typical map that I have made after 4-5 hours of dyno time I end up with 35-40 maps altered and usually 20-30 datalogs and dyno runs. But I do charge double what he does.
Take a look at this for how this affects the end results: http://www.dyno-tuning.co.uk/articles/remapGuide.pdf

I paid 290 to get mine done at his unit with 3 RR sessions and had no problems so far with it got 265bho and 30mpg driving normal 32 like a granny and 25 flatout

I will likely be using Jabbasport in Peterbourough, used them before and they know their VAG cars, they are also Local (ish) to me and they are not Revo :P
P.S. nothing against Revo, I just like to be different, get same power and save £180 in the process :happy2:

Hi Guys
I have used Radical Remaps he tuned my Golf GTI and i must say Brian did a fantastic job the car has been transformed and it cost me £300 bargain! Radical Remaps are not a franchise company they are legitimate Tuners and there is only 2 of them one mobile the other in the office. They also use Dimsport gear, the research i had done before i had my remap was that it seems to the the best and safest bit of kit a tuner can use.
Brian said that he was as not expensive as the Revo and so on, because they have no huge overheads and expensive advertising budgets that is always past on to the customer! food for thought! :driver:
