Has anyone had any experience with this company and this product?
[ebay]370558611683[/ebay]
I really want to get a fmic and think this does look like a good bit of kit. And price wise it is a lot more attractive than the forge  I know it might not retain the best drop in temperature but surely for the price its not a bad deal?
I've seen a few people ending with some good results from just the bod standard universal intercoolers found on ebay, i mean these days everything is copied so it won't be long before another company copies Forges Twintake and just changes a tiny part of the shape to avoid any copyright laws.
The company also sells just the silicone kit for 98.00 so surely I could get just a universal intercooler?
Suggestions?
:popcornsoda:

iirc it's a rip off of the Forge version.
It does work but you may have fitment issues, caveat emptor...
-
Oh i know its a rip off, but everything is becoming a rip off slowly which is why the forge twintake will be copied soon.
haha havn't heard that expression in a long time! Do you know anyone who / you have it? Im sure it will be an alright fitment. either way plenty of tools.
-
Love it how they even copy wortd for word the Forge Intake temps claim "A reduction in temps of up to a peak of 20 degrees Fahrenheit from 102 to 82 at 6600 RPM!", not even bothered to amend wording :happy2:, fair play tho at £160 sheets with refund if your not happy, might be worth getting one to check the welds and fittings and see if its any good?, if not return it! and saving compared to a £630 Forge is pretty impressive
-
Let us know how you get on with it! :popcornsoda:
-
The core ( inside of intercoolers ) is complex and not the type of thing i would even consider buying as a copy. You will not be saving £400 you will be losing £160.
Sometimes there is a reason why cheap tat is cheap tat.
Where are these goos results you mention I've seen a few people ending with some good results from just the bod standard universal intercoolers found on ebay

Buy cheap, buy twice :happy2:
I know it's a fair wack lower than the Forge but you get what you pay for. The Forge is £535 delivered from us:

-
and we all know what it cost forge to make em too
-
you obviously dont ant to pay the price of the forge because it is expensive, and thats fine thats not a problem though.
get your self an S3 intercooler, which is around half the price and almost as good. At leats then you know you have a quality product and not some pantsebay copy thats going to corrode within the year

EVEN BUYING CHEAP BUYING IT TWICE ONLY COSTS £320 :P
It probably costs Forge around £120 to make them at a guess, forge cost, double it for profit to retail, then they double again to punters, nice :happy2:

And sometimes your genuinely paying for high british manufacture costs and high profit margins, against low manufacture bulk costs and low margins, its not always cheap tat, a Lot of "Supposedly" UK manufactured stuff is actually mass made in China, same goes for quality japanese stuff whereas its manufactured in China or Phillipines instead!

Some good results with basic universal ebay front mount intercoolers;

There are more and im sure there are plenty saying they're crap and a waste of money. opinions are opinions.
-
Well you asked, you got out opinions, you might as well just do it :happy2:
-
also remember its a street car not a proper race car so the last thing id want to do is spend £700 on a front mount intercooler that will keep temps to an absolute minimum because its so efficient. just a few degrees can make all the difference.
-
So do you need the intercooler then if its only a street car?
-
I think there is a difference between wanting to eek a little more power for your stage 2.5 mapped car as opposed to a full on race/track car, answer for me would likely be yes for that price and wont bother for forge price :happy2:
Again just my opinion, if I was loaded and had a spare £550 I would probably buy forge, but im not and therefore wont
-
I've heard the flow on the forge twintercooler isnt great and acts more like an air block to the std cooler? So infact not all the great compared to a std replacement unit. Might be a can of worms but apparantely there was testing behind it.
-
and thats why i want a intercooler. id like to go stage 2 and get the most out of it. i intend to do the occasional track events. but even then its casual and fun. not building a full race car. and i second that if i had 500 or 600 spare and no other plans then perhaps id buy a forge but until then 180 aint a bad price forr a few more ponies and slighty reduced temps.

didnt know that :s so you could essentially be paying 500-600 for worse performance providing the data is accurate. would like to see the tests on that one if you can digg them out? might make me rethink the idea of a twin intercooler
-
The forge twitercooler has been PROVEN to work, so you know you are getting a product that does what it says on the tin.
You dont need the intercooler for stage 2+ anyway, its a nice to have. There have been quite alot of us who have ran at stage 2+ whilst retaining the stock intercooler. Mine was around 8hp less than an equivalent stage 2+ car fitted with the intercooler.
All that is needed for stage 2+ is the downpipe with sports cat and the HPFP. Mods such as the intake, intercooler etc are just icing on the cake.
What stage and tune are you running now?
-
icing on the cake id love to have :) i thought you needed an intake for stage 2? my ideal workout would be as you say down pipe, exhaust, intake and fmic and thrn be happy with leaving it that and stage 2.plus i think fmic.look **** hot on a gti and it helps look after your engine due to the cooler and denser engine (correct me if im wrong) and on motor way journeys i like the idea of achieving better mpg (unless im mistaken)
-
I ran a chinese intercooler on my mk1 Octavia vrs, I was very impressed with the price and build quality, the welds were superb. Intake temps dropped a lot and the car felt a lot quicker.
Would i use another Chinese intercooler? For that price hell yeah!
But you can pick a secondhand S3 one up for a lot cheaper than that.
Have a look on golfmkv.com when it's back on line, there is a lot of talk on the Godspeed one which they've had good results with.
-
yeah? do you remember which one? or which seller? yeah i know but for me i like the fmic look but the s3 is a beast. id only run one of them if i was going stage three!
-
The FMIC look......whats that when its around. Are you planning on leaving your front bumper off!! It looks like a box behind the lower grill, simple as that.
-
FMIC look. I miss that car :sad1:

i think it looks nice and a little bit meaner than just honeycoombe grilling.. perspnal opinion. thats a nice looking fmic martziniuk what bhp where you pushing?
-
If I get one fitted it will likely get sprayed black to hid it behind the grille as I dont like the thing to show, im more about stealth :happy2:
-
those tirea look like the fun peddle was pushed a bit heavy :driver: unless im not seeing it properly am on phone

Only 218bhp on stage 1, it was only 180bhp standard but it had bags of character. Tyres should have been within depth.
-
stealth to a degree but i like the idea of showing a little of supporting mods. plus spraying it black will only decrease the effiecency no? it absobs and retains heat more than reflective or bright colours. in the summersurely it will just soak the heat up from the outside?
and theres only so much stealth you can manage in a gti my mum even knows theyre fast and turbo :signLOL:

thats quite a good increase for stage one. do you think you owe it a bit from the intercooler?
-
IM talking a very light mist of black paint using an airbrush, should not affect it too much i wold not imagine.
And yes my 61 y/o mother has driven my Ed30 and she loves it apart from thinking the ride is a little hard :congrats:
-
that makes sense. haha :signLOL: your brave! no one gets to drive my car. only sit in it.

No because it wasn't fitted when I had it on the dyno, it was a Dyno Dynamics too
-
ahhh i see, my bad as they say. did you get it dynod with the fmic?
-
After reading this thread back i think you should go ahead and buy the chinese intercooler. :happy2:
-
not necessarily chinese, turbo revs is a uk company so could be like someone said made in england and sold cheaper.
