What's going on?? Noises, poor fuel consumption and now electrical gremlins. Must be Friday 13th poltergeist!
My cigarette lighter/power supply in the front cubby (mine doesn't have cover or ashtray) doesn't work anymore. I've been to the fusebox on the driver's side dash and fuse 42 as described in the manual is intact. The rear power supply in the boot is also not working. I've only ever used it to power my iPhone and it certainly worked fine. Don't remember a bang......
I've looked at a previous thread but it mentions the fuse and I've looked at it already, pulled it and re-seated it. The only thing I haven't done is replaced it with a new one.
Should the front power output have an illuminated bezel as most cigarette/power supply's do BTW?
What else can go tonight??!!

Holy Cr@p!!
I spoke too soon. Driven down to the South Coast tonight and just before arriving my F**ing OIL LEVEL WARNING LIGHT has come on briefly, then gone out then come on again. What a day. I checked the oil level earlier this week and this is the first motorway run the car's had since Christmas.
Loads of threads about oil and the GTi on this forum. Have I done any damage to my engine?? Car is under VW warranty so I guess I should book it in for them to look at.
Gonna try and get some Castrol or Quantum in the morning using a friend's car. Very worried. Cigarette lighter not a priority now!
I'll update tomorrow.

Don't worry about the oil warning light if the oil level is correct. Mine did it once on my last GTI. Was below the max mark but above the min level so topped it up & light never came on again. :happy2:

My oil level was right on the minimum line. It took a litre of VW's finest synthetic but the level was not right up to the maximum mark. The light's out but I'm still concerned.
Bought the oil at Caffyns - VW dealer in Worthing. Very good service from Patrick, Parts manager. I also bought a full 5 litres of oil, filter sump plug for a DIY change later this month.
Thanks for your reply.
Cheers

Last post on this hopefully!
Surely a warning light should be a warning of impending problems - not a flag that the failure has actually occurred?! Seems like its shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted etc.....
