TUNING GIANT APR TO SPONSOR VOLKSWAGEN RACING CUP
The Volkswagen Racing Cup is to enter the 2012 season with a new title sponsor - US Volkswagen Group tuning specialist APR, which is backing Britain’s most competitive and best-supported one-make saloon series as part of a new push into Europe.
Alabama-based APR, one of the biggest names in the world of Porsche, Audi, SEAT, Skoda and Volkswagen aftermarket performance products, has set up its European headquarters in Milton Keynes alongside those of Volkswagen Racing UK, and is set to become not just the championship’s title sponsor but also a technical partner.
APR will assist with scrutineering and offer technical assistance to competitors in the APR Volkswagen Racing Cup. “APR was established in 1997 and has many years of motorsport experience in the USA,” said vice-president Keith Lucas, “and it is a logical progression for us to bring the expertise we have gained to the European motorsport market and to offer it to competitors here.
“Britain is the ideal place for us to start our European programme and the Volkswagen Racing Cup is a natural partner for us. It is a great championship and the competitors are enthusiastic and driven, just like APR.”

^^^^ the advanced party landed a while ago and has already purchased a Mk6 Gof R demo car, when I drove it last week was very pleasantly surprised by it, was a really good map and certainly feel as quick as the revo stage 2+ ko4s I have driven too :happy2:

Well if apr are making a big come back to the uk it nmakes my choices for a remap more awkward.
Definitely prefer the thought of APR than revo.
Just checked JCs build thread. He's definitely going APR upto a stage 4 built engine. He wants a company that can develop bespoke hardware and software under one roof.
REVO must be gutted to lose him he's their biggest advocate :scared:
-
and if you remember how much sh1t jonny gave apr a while back for inflated figures  but its all about the ££££
-
APR eh? :innocent:
-
PSI Tuning in Stoke have just become APR agents :happy2:
-
It wont do the industry any harm having a decent competitor for Revo, but they will need to improve their TFSI map as it just wasn't as good as Revo's. If they intend to compete on the Mk5 platform again. Their hardware is top quality though. :happy2:
-
Are VW racing dropping REVO
-
Bit rubbish if
you I spend ££££ on APR Cooler, HPFP and Software for your my dealer to bin APR leaving you me with no support with out costing more :sad1:
-
done apr on 2 cars now and don't think would ever again it upset my audi 2.0t dsg would not start after only a few hours with it on and it also started killing coil packs on my 1.8t stage 2 cupra r but awesome said nothing wrong with the software its the car so i tried the free trial on the golf and low and behold an hour of driving it car would not start :rolleye: apr saying oh its the car :fighting: its brand new :fighting:. Will never go apr
-
The throttle pedal kill feature has been activated more than once with extended use of cruise.
Awesome denied point blank it could happen even though if I entered my APR pin code via cruise stalk I got my throttle pedal back :-/
-
never ever turned my map off so never used cruise setting
-
APR do great stuff, but when you get defects on it they don't honor their warranty.
I have Scars in my tailpipes and was told they had replacements in production for and the didn't keep their word. No idea in having great hardware if you don't keep the customer service up.
Milltek may not be the best quality items, but they DO honor their warranty.
Also i have had better support of my REVO map than i had for my APR map, they (APR) changed the map finally after 60+ mails.
So i'm not sure what i think of them until a replacement backbox is in the mailbox

My turn next, looking forward to it . Is it manual or DSG?
-
So are they going to be able to do live custom mapping at APR UK/Racingline?
-
Having VW Racing as the main APR Uk dealer might not be the best thing IMO. Whilst they might be very good when it comes to their racing car builds etc, they aren't famed for their customer service responses.
Wander if they would add the token VWR additional tax to the base APR remap price :innocent:
