does anybody else have the warm start problem. my golf starts straight away when cold, when the cars been driven for about half hour and get warm it takes 5 - 10 seconds to start...
have any1 cured this problem?
-
can't say I do, mines is the opposite... I have to leave the ignition on for a good 5-6 seconds on a cold start before turning the key to start or else it stutters before firing up...warm starts are fine!

noways thats mad. have you taken it to a garage?

Mine is same as this, well more like 3-4 seconds (The 2.0L TFSI engine is know to take a little longer then others to startup). Warm starts are almost instant.
EDIT:
Just did a cold start this evening (temp was flashing at 3 deg C) and it was actually more like 2 seconds.

GTI or TDI?

had this problem on my tdi, and its actually surprisingly common...
two things to check are the starter motor and the battery....if your cars more than 4/5 years old, get your battery tested by your local motor factors, they usually have the battery tester, and depending on the outcome of that get yourself over to your nearest Andrew Page counter and pickup a bosch battery (they're bosch specialists and treat people a bit better than the twerps at eurocarparts),
if that doesnt fix it then starter motor time! and again, andrew page will do you a bosch exchange unit at a good price and remember to ask them for a discount, they'll give you a trade discount even if your not trade just by you asking
after changing battery and starter motor on my 1.9tdi sport it fixed the embarassing warm start problem i had and now the car fires first time every time
good luck and post back with your results :happy2:

Very common, just search on here and you will see another thread. My tdi does it but until it gets worse i'm not going to waste money changing things.

U have the opposite to most GTI owners, they tend to take ages to start from cold and need some throttle but start straight from warm!
