Title: NOW SOLD - AjayB's Build Thread- GT TDI
Post by: AjayB on January 14, 2012, 02:41:17 am
Thought i'd start a little thread as i'm going to be doing quite a bit to the car and would like opinions and suggestions from you guys  :happy2:

The cars a 2004 2.0 GT TDI [140]
Reflex Silver
Remapped by Awesome GTi - 180bhp // 290lbft
Lowered on H&R 35mm soon to be changed
20% tints - Probably change these to a little lighter shade
Front GT facelift conversion with a straight fit GT/GTI bumper from Vagen.vg

Mods i am planning to do are listed in my Sig.

The car looked like this when i got it-

I then got the tints, springs and some spare alloys that were floating around put on-

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fj355%2FAjaybhatoa%2FIMG_0523.jpg&hash=33a181c4c0867d99b5088ebc1c6f843225ccb22f)

Then came the remap done at Awesome and full service with engine flush-

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fj355%2FAjaybhatoa%2FIMG_0488.jpg&hash=95dbea11b3c1b6f7f55493d4da0ca6fc0d6097de)

I got bored over Xmas so decided to wrap some interior trim-

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fj355%2FAjaybhatoa%2Fd70a2797.jpg&hash=385b38e8b0e69148bf7cd7b7fb5f02ffbfb40f93)

After buying the car i realised that it had been subject to some previous body work and been covered up by the garage i bought it off, the paint was peeling after a few washes, rear arch has lost its line a bit (only noticeable upon close inspection) so i decided to get a full side respray done to rectify the problems. Just got the car back today-

From this when i dropped it off-

To this-

And finally-

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fj355%2FAjaybhatoa%2F401340_10151178425965160_557705159_22812768_215224922_n.jpg&hash=26cb7531c7b736b9a4eb7705eae9d58c99b872dc)

I will get some proper pictures taken in the daylight and post them, but for now i am really pleased with how its turned out. Lots more to come.. (NEW PICTURES BELOW A FEW REPLIES)

What about the new ed35 wheels they would look nice on yours :happy2:  Or the new GTI/RS3 wheels?? My local wheel/tyres place has just got them in stock and could do them cheapish...or you could get them from the bay a bit cheaper.

Ed35 optional wheels
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fv730%2FKANE1210%2FIMG_6224.jpg&hash=f469c8eb182a796804acb42a517d19ef67301d9c)

Ed35 standard wheels

Cheers fella, i paid £600 for this respray on the side.. a full respray would be considerably more.. Probably around £1500 or so i reckon. The work thats been done is very good and has totally sorted any issues the car had previously.

I went down to the place you mentioned Darren and didn't like much of what they have. They only had the RS3 syle wheels above and nothing like the 2nd set of ed35 wheels :( Thinking of these?

Quick questions guys.. the only thing left to do on my front conversation is the newer style fog lights as mine are the older projector style. Will the new fogs be the same as the GTI ones or did the GT sports come with different ones?

There the same Ajay although you could retain the projector type which came on the early GTI and all Tourans :happy2:

Cheers for the reply Darren, I have the projectors ones in at the moment but cos there's the little gap i want to get them changed over soon. I know its not noticeable to most people but cos i know its like that it bugs me a little lol. Not a major issue for now though :) Focusing on my wheels for now  :driver:

Car was filthy today so decided to give it a little TLC so went and got myself some Meguiars Clay from Halfords. Got the car washed using the 2 bucket method, dried and used the the clay with the provided 'mist n wipe detailer' 1st impressions of the outcome are great. The car has a mirror finish and feel like glass.

Also got the GTI valance fitted! The noise the car makes now when i floor it is awesome   My fuel economy seems to have shot up too after this little mod..
