Title: coombe lodge, croydon mk5 gti meet
Post by: nezquick on January 15, 2012, 12:08:44 pm
if anyone fancies meeting at the coombe lodge in croydon for a gti meet please put your name forward. It will be more of a alternative to the larger purley meet and aimed at gti owners and would be good to know some more people in the local area (bromly beckenham penge crystal palace croydon sutton etc)

if you have an alternative location or idea please share and if you want to go but cant do the dates and a majority are the aame we can reschedule the dates.

venue

last weekend of this month either saturday or sunday day.(majority vote around 1pm goving time for people to drive and wash cars etc)
pub meet meaning beer and chat. the lodge does good food as well so you can enjoy a nice lunch too.
photos as well (although not professional) if wanted?
then a drive if people feel up for it.

Location map -

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=coombe+lodge,+croydon&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=3200l4050l0l4228l9l6l0l0l0l0l261l953l1.4.1l6l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&biw=756&bih=1082&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl

there is parking onsite and i think atleast 8 people to.make it worth while.

if people want to make it more regular then we could think about setting something a bit more regular and perhaps a meal and cruise once every two months but im just spitballing here.

1) nezquick
2) simon
3) bendy
4) jimojameso
5) gtian
6) mvb12

first weekend of feb, either saturday or sunday - majority vote wins

just round the corner from me, im just over at border beckenham / penge but work near in the sydenham business park.

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=coombe+lodge,+croydon&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=3200l4050l0l4228l9l6l0l0l0l0l261l953l1.4.1l6l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&biw=756&bih=1082&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl

full details on there, if you want you can follow me up from croydon. Been meaning to go to tuning werkes, wanted to find out about remaps. You had any work carried out there?

The more the better so if you can that would be  :happy2:

sorry lads day job and all that.

Tuning Werkes - never been but i want to get criuse control retrofitted and i believe Tuning werkes do it for £150.00 and the stealers in crown point told me £200.00. (so that will be £50.00 towards my other bits of interest)

if you also need to head towards them i'm game to follow as i'm not hundred percent on the location but i think it before the bus depo going towards purley. (but could be massively wrong)

just had a look at the map and wherever that is in Croydon is nowhere i've been before, although it looks very close to the centre

One of the things I like about where I work, mk5golfgti is always a click away.

Thats not bad, I was gunna pick one up from ebay - I think I could install one easy enough but I don't have vag com. I'd quite like to see if tuning werkes would charge just for coding.

hmmm, Im not to sure - I know its near witgift school but you'd have to double check with their site or something. Its not to far from the centre, or us in fact. only twenty to half depending on traffic and your right foot  :driver:

Ill check google maps for t/w's and see where they are.

Yup I know were t/w's is, go towards the big round about in croydon (near the fair fields theatre) and then left and its essentially a long round. there should be signs for the turn in. googlemap sydenham to tuningtwerkes

I work Sat night geeza, I am up for Thursday night / Croydon.

Yeah if i can follow a guide to code it shouldnt be hard!!! Full diagnostic is cool, takes couple of minutes!
Title: Re: coombe lodge, croydon mk5 gti meet

Just read the previous thread in all its glory.

1 - I really do not want to see the Corsa Crew at any meet. only VAG!

2 - Alternative to the Purley way Meet is Prept @ Brands Hatch every last Wednesday of the month. (Signed up to the site and now waiting acceptance.... that was nearly a month ago)  :scared:

3 - for this meet and a few more meets i wouldn't mind the weekend THEN slipping into a fixed bi weekly evening meet as weekends are normally chukker for me!

Plus i think i'm on the downward spiral of modding so defo need to talk to a few like minded peeps.

Whats the corsa crew.. The coombe is vag only.. gti ;) hmmm that soubnds interesting.i bet yoi can get some good tips going to a meet like brands hatch.. do you get to do track days through that meet? i would of thought youd get a discount after becoming a known member.. how do you sign up or joon? can you not just go down? I second thay. evening meets are alaays a bit easier plus it keeps the misses happy as we can then go shopping on saturday  :sad1: oh and sunday  :indifferent: i was thinking if everyone got on well enough and the meet got a bit biggee we could do something similar to kent car club meets and have a eat and cruise meet every so often and oerhaps a checky pint.. would be nice during the summer if the weather is nice. i know the mr2 meet do that alot. haha tell me about jt.. my wage is looking a lot smaller than it used to  :stupid:

It was just a baby.  2.5 non S but it handled like nothing I've ever driven and was pretty quick.

I think I am going to hang on to my Golf, its a great car and does fantastic MPG and maybe one day when I have more cash I will buy another Boxster, who knows maybe even a 911.

Meanwhile here is a picture of it so you can see why I was having second thoughts   :sad1:

Very nice sounds like youve got some nice additions for you car!

hmm well the easiest way is if people say in or out and then tomurro morning if the majority is out then we dont do it. im not up for going amd then no one shows up as its a wasted journey. It looked a promising venue and i was hoping for a few more people.. realistically if theres only say three up for it then theres not much point. so if everyone going says a simmply comment with in or out then by 10am tomurro we know whether its on or off..

:happy2: Cheers for today everyone, It is nice to see some more people in the local area that share an interest in VAG

I would definitely be up for that vw event in march if someone cares to get all the details and everyone else likes the idea of doing something then we could get a post up and running and arrange it.

after seeing how good those bbs  look im gunna have to sort out a set of LM's or something I coudn't believe how good they looked for replica's you wouldn't have a clue.

Sorry that it was a bit cold and appreciate everyone's effort to come! Hope everyone else had a good time and wants to keep it going. Anyone else going thurs to purley - Im interested in having a look but not 100%

Oh and i've just ordered some claybar - got the meguiars clay bar kit so hope it is good!

This is Worthersee
I think its pretty much the biggest vag festival and its in austria  :happy2:

Are these meets purely for GTi's or do all VAG cars pass  :laugh
I sold my stage 2+ GTi 3 months ago and bought a new weapon.
I live in Penge, so really local to the meet :driver:

I'd say keep it nice and vag although I do expect a guest visit of a certain supra  :P well shall we arrange another one for march sometime? Perhaps get some lunch or something? jussa where abouts in penge? I'll have to keep an eye out for you! If you ever see a mk5 with a monkey in the window give me a flash!

Well the weather man was right about the snow my car is parked up in putney and it doesn't look worth the risk of driving tonight.  :sad1:

I think we will be sorting out another one soon.  Someone said early March.  I think we might need to find somewhere a little less busy as it would be nice to have the room to line all the cars up.  Staying around the same area though would be good, maybe a little further south, just so we can find somewhere a bit more suitable.

Title: Re: coombe lodge, croydon mk5 gti meet
Post by: daboy3000 on February 19, 2012, 04:49:41 pm
That's a little to far north for me.
Title: Re: coombe lodge, croydon mk5 gti meet
Post by: nezquick on February 20, 2012, 03:04:42 pm
Hi everyone,

Well I am up for late march as it will hopefully be a bit warmer by then meaning everyone isn't so cold. I think croydon / around that general area might be a little better for everyone else but Mitcham isn't far for me ( about 25 mins with traffic) If anyone else can come up with a good place that would be appreciated.

I think if you get to the coombe lodge before 1.00pm then theres usually quite a lot of car space (I got there earlier than I thought and there were a lot of free spaces)

But yeah if someone can come up with a good location thats accessible for everyone else we can arrange for another meet  :driver:

The Grasshopper is great for a meet but probably a bit too far south for most of you.

well off the rader for me.

TBH if we have a turnout of less than 10 I think Coombe is ideal as when I turned up (on time :signLOL:) there was ample space available so don't think we would need to consider a location change........ yet!

It was good space earlier but i think 1 -2 it starts getting busier for lunch or what have you, so maybe next time knock it forward to 12:30 and it should be absolutely fine!

think it may be better to set a day for the meet for each month i.e. last sat of the month or something along those lines.

I myself would prefer a weekend meet, due to work commitments ect.....

Dates are on the poll page  and its a weekend a choice on sat or sun!! 24th & 25th if im right. well when everony meets next we can discuss how regular we want to make it and whether everyone is up for a drive date which we can plan out properly and whether any events we all want to attend as i think someone.last time came up with the idea of going to a vdub event?

As they say, 'good things come to those who wait' and I had to wait till I was 41 to afford the S3  :drinking:
But it was well worth the wait!!!  :driver:
Who knows, when you're 41 the S3 probably will have wings and not wheels  :signLOL:

Cheers Dave, I've always had a soft spot for blue cars. My V6 4Motion was Indigo blue pearlescent, which was amazing in the sunlight as well.

Guildford has run out of V Power in all of it's Shell stations! I had to buy Total Excellium 97, and I swear it's not running as nicely!  :sad1:

Finished a nightshift last night and was using the missus diesel 1.5 Nissan Note.  Got to my local Shell garage at around 6:30am and everything was sold out except for the V-power.  Found a BP and filled her to the brim with diesel.  Got home and raced up to the Shell garage in the S3 to fill up!!!  This panic buying is crazy, nobody even knows when the strike will take place??

Lovely Ben. Brings a lump to my throat when I see a black Mk2. I bought mine as a runaround for a couple of years as it was on my car list, and loved it  so much I kept it for 7! Only sold it as I was going to uni and wanted something sensible(ish) and bought a 1.8T Mk4.

I love white mk 1's as well. I must have watched that episode of Wheeler Dealers 10 times!! Future appreciating classics for sure, both of them.  :congrats:

Ha!  :signLOL: Slight problem, the exhaust system warning light came on yesterday afternoon, but I'm going to Storm as planned and hopefully they can find out what it is, sort it and proceed with the map. The car is running absolutely fine, pulling really well, so hopefully it's something really simple. Apparently  this can come up sometims for no explainable reason. Fingers and everything else well and truely crossed!!

Hi Fellas,

Any news on the next meet Nez? Really enjoyed the last one, and looking forward to the next one. Sundays are best for me, as I'll soon be donning the whites and swinging the willow on saturdays, as the cricket season starts for me in a couple of weeks.

Cheers,

funny you should say that i found a place in coventry that does custom interior designs. i also had a contact in essex that did the same but lost the number  :ashamed:. but the more i drive the car the more i love the tartan set up. did have the thought of changing to leathers when 1st purchased but now i shall remain loyal to the cloth  :P

The only interior change I'd make is the RNS 510 or whatever it's called, and maybe an ED30 interior. I agree with you Marvin, I'd never get rid of the tartan completely, it reminds me of my mk2 every time I get in it.

Had the choice of leather or tartan cloth when i bought mine as they had 2 GTI's for sale and both had almost identical spec and mileage apart from colour and the interiors, always wanted a black 3 door but also just had to have the cloth interior

Maybe wanna get the silver dash strips and air vent/radio surround gloss black wrapped  not sure yet think i need to see some close up

Also wanna check out some LED interior bulbs

We're all loving the Tartan! I love the silver inserts in mine, I think they lift the interior, and give it a real quality feel. However, as you have that sexy RNS510 with gloss black surround, that could really work with matching gloss black inserts.  :happy2:

Exactly what i was thinking Ian with the inserts and surround but just need to see it in the flesh to see if it works or would be too much black and ruin the dash
