It should do but the nano won't be charged from the dock. You need to use a special adapter for charging the nano in the dock.

Thanks

Mmm is that the same for all ipod nanos? Or just the later ones? I thought the docking bit charged as well?

You need a FireWire to USB charge converter.  Thats what I needed for my 5th gen ipod to charge in the car.  I presume the 5th and 6th gen are the same in relation to charging?

or you could change the ipod dock in the armrest for the MDI version (one of which i happen to be selling for £40 :signLOL:), which is compatible and will charge ipods etc,

"The Media Device Interface (MDI) offers support for USB devices (memory sticks and hard drives), iPod integration and Aux In along with displaying ID3 tags over the CAN bus to the MFD and the RCD310, RCD510 and RNS510 headunit. You can navigate folders or menus simply via the sound system, with the track playing shown on your radio or radio-navigation display"

Old thread resurrection alert !!!!!

Do you have any more info on this?

I have an ed30 with MFD2 unit and ipod dock in the armrest.
I have nano 6th gen, and it doesnt seem to work at all.  Haven't tried another apple device yet so unsure if the dock is working.

Anyway is it possible to connect a newer iphone(lightning) to the MFD2 head unit via any means?

Thanks

Fitted a 6 CD changer in place of the iPod dock as it wouldnt work with my nano.
Direct replacement - same harness.   :happy2:
