Despite being born in the 80s, I never really got into 80s music until I was at uni. All the birds seemed to love 80s club hits.

Any of Michael Jackson's hits from that era.

So many songs. Just looked at VH1's top 100 tunes of the 80s:
Livin on a prayer
When doves cry
Under pressure
In the air tonight
Cruel summer
Sweet dreams
Push it
Don't you want me
Cars

I've recently been working my way through some of the rock bands like Dire Straits.

Duel by Propaganda is a personal favourite, but a lot of New Romantics stuff is a guilty pleasure.

Kenny Loggins' entire back catalogue.

Cheesy stuff aside, which to be fair to it, generally was of a good quality because it involved people who could nearly sing and genuine quality production... I love all the music of the 80's. Maybe it's because it's what I grew up with as a kid? I don't know??

Anything Factory Records is very close to my heart, along with general Indie and especially the Smiths. Reminds me of gigging as a kid, I'd spend every penny I had getting into Manchester to watch anyone and everything. I saw a lot of great bands, experienced the Hacienda... good times!

Check this, how they capture Ian Curtis' energy in Playmobil is beyond me.

Here's a slightly leftfield one: Then Jericho, Big Area.

I was at a small comedy club recently and the compare picked out a bloke in the audience and said he reckoned he had the look of a musician who had been in a decent sized band. Turns out to be the lead singer. I went home that night and played it on YouTube, good song.

I adour the 80's and have been waiting for it to become fashionable again

I listen to absolute 80's radio all day at work and at home too on DAB and it's the sole reason I'm putting a DAB radio in the car!

Great thread.  Love 80's music.  Quite partial to a bit of Simple Minds me self.  Saw them live last year at a Forrestry Commission gig on Cannock Chase.  Not many people under 35 in the crowd and the biggest queue was at the tea and coffee van, not the bar!

Oh yes Simple Minds, don't you forget about them (bad pun sorry). Saw then live twice in their hay day, they were awesome.
