Hi,
What product would you recommend to clean Exhaust tips? :happy2:

Depends. I use an engine degreaser foaming thing on the exhaust and work it in with a brush. Then wipe off and follow with some 0000-grade wirewool or microfibre and use something like autosol metal polish. Recently have moved to megs nxt gen metal polysh which has a sealant as well. Personally thing the finish is better with the megs.

Use a MF cloth and buff with Autosol :happy2:

+1 for the MF and Autosol :happy2: use frequently to keep it looking new!

This of course depends if its been taken care of by the previous owner... my standard tips will probably require a Nuke to remover the carbon :sick:

Would the above work if the previous owner never cleaned the exhaust once? Any advice? Other than "millitek cat-back" - which I'm sure will come in time :wink:

Here's a pick of my standard zorst which was pretty filthy when I brought the car. Again buffed with Autosol.....

No amount of Autosol will take the carbon off my standard exhaust... :sad: It was so ugly I couldnt wait to upgrade to the Milltek!
Would probs follow STEALTHWOLF's method: engine de-greaser or similar to cut through it and a right good scrub with wire wool! Once its baked on its hard to get it back to its best... just change it and look after the next one :wink:

Gonna at least try to clean up the standard one, it's black. Promised myself I'd wait until the summer before starting to buy bits for the car.. Hmm, am wondering if the wife would see a less-than-shiny exhaust as a clear signal that a millitek is essential?!?! :grin:

I'd do just that and leave it, drop a cock and bull story of the exhaust not functioning properly and a Miltek is the way forward :happy2:

Yes tell her the exhaust is blown, and that the cost of a OEM one is simular to a Milltek. Worked for me :evilgrin:

I'm liking your thinking folks - will hold off for a while though given I only collected the car on Saturday as otherwise I'm sure I'll get massive grief about buying a duff motor! :mad:
I'll definitely have a go with the metal polish and keep that "exhaust is blown" number in my mental mod bank for the near future... :happy2:

and to add, the milltek one is stainless steel so you will never have to replace it.. :wink: lifetime warranty and all that..

coming to think about it. my exhaust is super durrrty, i need a Miltek ASAP.
