Hi I've got a question which i haven't been able to find an answer for yet. I've got 2007 Jetta Tdi Sport and i wanna fit electric folding mirrors to it. Now what i need to know is what is involved in doing it i know obviously that the mirrors will need to be changed but what about wiring will i need to change the door loom to cater for the folding part and also will they need coding?
Rich.

Before you go any further, be aware that the folding mirror option is a but of a joke on the mk5 platform as it'll only retract the mirror around 5cm per side from the open position.
-
O i right i didnt know that not much use then wont prevent someone from knocking the mirrors off even if i did have that feature.
Probaly wont bother now then. I think you just saved me aload of money :signLOL:

I garage my car every night and find folding mirrors great; it’s the difference between struggling to get through the uprights or folding the mirrors and not having a problem.

Same here but I thought he should know what to expect if he's going to spend so much money for the upgrade.

cheers for the comments lads is it a hard upgrade to do if i do decide to do it or is there alot to be change to cater for the folding feature?
-
Someone on here has done this upgrade (can't recall who it was) so try doing a search to see what's involved.

Mine has it, but previous owner did it. Doesnt help ,uch as said they only go in a tiny bit
-
i'll try and search it then and see what i find cheers lads

Ive had mine off mate and door card and connectors are all plug and play and not cut wires or adaptors in mine. Puddle lights work on them and motors and heating, they are perfect!
-
You also need to change your door modules that have the motor on for the window, the small plug/connection needs to have 11-13 pins in the drivers door and a few more in the passenger door depending on what functions you want eg reverse dip, puddle lights. Your door modules prob have 7 pins on them. Its so hard to find these used on ebay as theres so many, most of them useless. If you get lucky your probable looking around £300ish for both mirrors and modules.

right so just to clarify i need to have gen 3 modules in both doors and they need to have 11-13 pins in the drivers door and more in the passenger what would the chances be that my 2007 vw jetta sport tdi would have those modules already in or am i just p==ssing in the wind and hoping for a miracle :signLOL:

<Mines a GT TDI 170 and mine was done on cheap so you might be lucky
-
Hopefully i just need to find out weather my jetta has gen 3 modules in it there is a thread on here and the thread does have a golf/jetta spec model break down and what modules they should have and if the break down is right my jetta should already have the gen 3 modules fitted but i will see my mate at my local vw dealer and get it checked
