Hi guys,
Recently had my ed30 stage 2+ (DSG stage 2 aswell) got me thinking what it's matched too on the acceleration scale?
I don't really race on the roads and my cars not a track car.....just yet :happy2: so in terms of a long road with a few bends in it what would match them at 2+? Are they with the E46 M3 or TTRS? I have no idea but it's got me thinking!
-
My bro in laws killed m3s, never went up against ttrs but am certain once rolling he would have had no problem. The car was phenomenally quick. Problem was he drove like a twat everywhere. Such a nob
-
I am actually dissapointed with stage2+. Thought it be epic fast but due to the weight of the Golf it dont really perform!
I cant beat my mates MK4 Golf vf34 turbo at top end and thats only running 310hp.

What 2+ file you using? Doesn't sound right!
-
Revoo... its right thats for sure. I have a friend of a friend with another ED30 stage2+ (revo) who went up against him and couldnt do him. My mates MK4 is disgusting quick for what it is. Stripped out / water meth / vf34. i would say its like around 1100kg compare to ours 1350kg.
My Starlet turbo 270hp would keep up with it. But thats now long gone :(
Power to weight mate.

if you comparing it to a car with better power to weight and you're disappointed...start stripping you car :P

I've been thinking about knocking some weight of my car but I don't want to take the aspect of a "golf" away so it still has to be practical,
TT/alloy hubs and arms
Leight weight battery
Carbon bonnet (painted)
Pro race 1.2
Porka brakes
Remove spare wheel and tool kit
I don't want to start taking my interior out or loosing air con, what KG's would the above knock of at a rough estimate?
-
He actually ran a hybrid on there for a couple of days and i saw that on the rollers down at statllers , im not going to say what it put out coz then People start saying its impossible, but i know what i saw and it was ridiculous. I actually drove it and it was as you would say, epic. It was pulling the car all over.
-
I had an e46 m3 and the stage 2+ eddy would eat it up too a ton ish. it wouldnt beat a ttrs thought the times they put down are almost supercar quick, tbh theres not much out there that would beat you i reccon e9* M3 up to about 100 would be simelar or an rs4 nothing in a hot hatch should come close really
-
Personally i think the ttrs puts down super times is because of launch control and dsg. I went up against 1 at inters last year, he was 3sec faster 0-60 but over the finish line was only
2 sec faster. I have manual and no launch. And he was stage 1

Only 2 seconds faster. That is a lifetime on the quarter mile. And the DSG has not been out long so it was probably a manual. Everybody knows a stage 2+ ED 30 is very fast but a TTRS is on another level. :happy2:
-
Deffo dsg as when we got to the end i asked him what he was running and he told me the above. But ye very quick. Imo it didnt look too far a gap by the end. I understand what your saying though but like i said, i got a second back on him from the start
-
I'd love to race a E* M3 or RS4 now
I've got the new revo map and it pulls right to 7 and a half K and you can feel it kick at 7K still so I'd say at above 100 my Eddie is very strong! Not sure what's its compared to tho as I don't have the balls to mess about on the road at around 100MPH :driver:
-
It will keep with them trust me
-
Have a look at this...
The red Golf is a K04 car and the yellow Audi is a Stage 3 APR with a GT28 but because the yanks use crap fuel an English Stage 2+ Edition 30 would probably be on its tail...
The camera car is a V8 R8. Very little if anything in it!
-
This is an interesting topic for me as I have just moved up to Revo Stage 2+ a couple of weeks ago and am impressed with the results so far... however I know that it's recommended to upgrade the intercooler at this stage, although not compulsary... it seems a fair few people run the stock I/C without issues.
I am hesitant to spend £600 - 700 for a THS or Forge intercooler, but wondered if it's worth coughing up £300 ish for an S3 I/C? My DSG Ed30 is primarily used for commuting a relatively short distance, an only given the beans on a weekend or later at night.
-
My brother in law has gone back to stock as he is selling his car, he has a ths cooler he will be selling, if your interested i can ask him for a price on it. It is only 6 months old.G :happy2:
-
For sure mate, if you don't mind ask him what he's looking for and I may be interested... cheers

+1 as Switch to Revo is imminent for me

Is this new map a free upgrade or don't revo update software for people ?

Hi mate, ive got my wires crossed with the cooler. Its actually a vf intercooler with all the hard piping, but he wants a fair whack for it as it cost him a fortune, probably as much as what a ths new one would cost. Sorry about the mistake.

Being 3 seconds slower to a certain speed and 2 seconds slower at a certain distance does not necessarily mean you caught up.

No but it does mean from 60 to approx 110mph the 2+ Eddy was 1 second faster than a TTRS which is an achievement in itself.
A stg 1 TTRS would be a different story though.
An RS4 cant keep up with a 2+ K04 once rolling. My pal has an RS4 and has been left behind several times. Off the line the RS4 destroys mine though, especially this time of year.
E46 M3 cant keep up - straight line
E90 M3 - very evenly matched with mine
M6 500hp convertible - even from 30 to 130ish
A Stg2+ K04 car can embarrass some highly regarded motors :drinking:

Best thing is the Eddie costs 20K less than all those too :congrats:
-
The ttrs was stage 1 400hp, and in any case i know what my car IS capable of and i HAVE embarrased some very expensive cars. And it stands me to about 14k
-
100 percent chav thread :signLOL: do you think the guy in the m3 or rs4 gives a s..t? Dudes got an rs4 :signLOL:
-
A KO4'd vRS top speed run 277kmhr( 173mph) in circa just over a minute,, just shows what the KO4 can do.

Is the Ed30 in question manual or DSG? I bet a DSG car would keep the Mk4 honest.
RS4 V8 would get chewed up by a DSG Stage 2+ Ed30 over 30-130 (same with E46). E92 M3 would be closer, but again would get pipped.
Top end isn't the Golf forte, so it would always get passed by a 4.0 V8 at some point.
Regarding the TTRS, a DSG car will have the legs on a standard TTRS over a similar range, but once mapped the tables are soon turned (especially if it's a S-Tronic car). On the 1/4 mile I wouldn't even bother wasting your fuel against even a stock S-Tronic TTRS. You'll have lost heavily before you even get to the 60ft marker. Stock low 12's, mapped high 11's due to their cannon fire start :surprised:
-
Mines DSG, my friends Manual... mine its only at around 5500 he starts to leave me, then 6200 is dead... I think if i got the DSG remap which can bypass the 6200rpm limit it can be only be better ?....
Once im in the next gear say 4th gear coming from 3rd, hes just pulling away and im not even catching up.

Thinking about it, an IHI 1.8T running water meth should be running more than 310, surely? If it were 340ish then it's not surprising it pulls slightly given the weight advantage.

I've been thinking about knocking some weight of my car but I don't want to take the aspect of a "golf" away so it still has to be practical,
TT/alloy hubs and arms 3kg a side
Leight weight battery 10kg
Carbon bonnet (painted) depends on which, VWR app. 12kg saved, Osir app. 7 kg
Pro race 1.2 18"? app. 2,5-3kg a wheel
Porka brakes app. 5kg a side? :ashamed:
Remove spare wheel and tool kit ?

Stock internals, keeping it safe. i think its 320/ with matching torque mapped by Jabbasport.
Hes tubby is just stronger up in the higher rev range. IT doesnt help with Revo where the torque goes up then back down once its high in the rev range. Where maybe his torque is so linear!
No dramas,,, MK5 > MK4 ;)
I have just fitted my s3 intercooler, rs4 valve this weekend, then i can maybe play around with settings as atm im using 9/5/5......
-
now im glad i called about booking my ED30 in for revo stage 2+ and getting shot of the GIAC

TD Pro 1.2 are more like 7-8kg a wheel! :happy2:

They are talkign of weight saved though...
-
TD's were one of the best mods I did to my Ed30 tbh.. I did weigh both the stock wheel and the TD 1.2 (18") and they were about 4.5kgs lighter per corner IIRC. That's unsprung weight to so even better.. :happy2:
-
not just unsprung, its also rotational mass which is even better again
-
The DSG ED30's are a good straight line motor, put it this way, Ben's Stage 2+ (355-360bhp) ED30 clocked 2 secs quicker over 30-130mph than a Focus RS MK1 with roughly 350bhp and bear in mind the FRS is 70-100kgs lighter and when you figure it was proven that the DSG is good for 2 secs over 30-130mph, it shows why!

TD PR 1,2 8x18" is 9kg :happy2: I have 2 sets

I need to get some R1R's and get on a track  got a few handling mods on the table but jut waiting for summer
My friends S3 that's mapped is pretty nippy it's not revo or anything but he drives like a loon everywhere and he does sit with a few good cars, guess yor right about what the Ko4 can do :popcornsoda:
