Title: GTi aftermarket intake
Post by: Black9 on January 25, 2012, 09:24:39 pm
After owning the car for a while now I'm finding the engine note quite muted and not much intake noise happening apart from the exhaust burble, which does sound nice. Now I'm after an "induction kit" the main one I'm looking at is the NueSpeed P-Flo kit. Is there anyone out there that has previous experiance with the kit? Is it quite loud, does it suffer from heat soak and is there any other alternatives out there for similar price? I'd be looking to "modify" the stock engine cover, how hard/easy is this.

ive currently got that p-flow kit installed on my gti and love the noise, it is loud some say the loudest, it came with a heat shield and have had no problems at all! bought second hand from TT Turbo on here, it also came with a modified audi engine cover from his tt that i dont use. looked into modifying my VW one but decided against it as id like to keep it if i ever go back to stock as theyre either A. hard to locate second hand and B. very expensive bought from dealers. also very easy to install and comes with all necessary components to fit from new and looks great (mines red)  :happy2:

although i got mine second hand I'm almost certain the cheapest place is awesome gti and it should come with the heat shield. as for the coil packs I've not heard of any issues?

apparently you can sometimes get water ingress into cyl 4 if you run no engine cover. a little grease at the top to repel the water is meant to work a treat.

Just realised they come with the reflective shield. As for coil packs I thought they may get moisture into them due to lack of the engine cover. From what I know GNJ are the cheapest too!  :happy2:
