Title: Forge short shifter owners
Post by: Trekmeister on January 26, 2012, 08:08:17 pm
Installed a forge short shifter for MK5 Golf GT 140, works great but have a question to anybody who also has one. Is the shift back and forth equal in length? The reason I ask is the throw backwards (gears 2, 4 and 6) seems much shorter than the forward throw. Is there a possibility I have the shifter splines lined up incorrectly and need some readjustment or is it supposed to be like that?

Mine seems equal fore and aft. Will check in morning to be sure.  :happy2:

A very worthy mod, always found the shift in mine sloppy (coming from honda S2000) and kept missing gears
when pressing on. A second hand short shift sorted it out straight away.  :happy2:

Mine seemed fine when I fitted one to my old waggon. Take it you did lock the stick in the neutral position?

I have got used to mine over a few months, no difference in changing gear for me.
Though did take a while to get used to it not going back into neutral when pushing the stick out of gear.
