Hi Guys,
After I installed polar fis advanced it all worked fine and very happy with it, I decided to check how the turn off function works. Now I want to put it back on by pressing the OK button and it doesn't work. Once holding the ok button for 30 seconds and then trying to go to Polar fis screen the name polar fis appears on the display for split seconds and then it's gone. Also tried reconnecting the battery but no luck there.Really gutted as like the kit and idea of disconnecting and reconnecting of polar really scares me as it's 2 hours job... But this is the last resort...
Maybe somebody got similar issue??
Thanks
Paul

What firmware version do you have installed?
It sounds like the system is crashing when you try to access it.

I have the latest firmware as only bought it 1 month ago. It's the advantage version. It worked all perfectly and now I wish I hadn't turned it off! Will disconnect help??

Why? Mine takes 10 seconds. You don't have to remove the loom, the car will still function with the unit removed. Mine sits behind the tray to the right of the steering wheel, so easy to get at. It makes sense to have it some accessible as it is easier to remove for updates (and problems like yours.)
Have you looked on the Auto Polar forum for help and advice? They are very quick to respond with queries like yours (but not so quick to get some English instructions!! :popcornsoda:)

I think I have read something about restarting after switching off.
BTW, you may not have the latest firmware as it has only been out for a couple of weeks. Should be v0.2.2
As you say, it is a great bit of kit. :notworthy:
Good luck

My gti is 2008 and access from inside is no go really. I need to get there from under the bonnet, remove the wipers, wiper engine, other bits and pieces.... On various cars canbus is located in various places. Thanks for the link
Will try those if doesn't work I think the only option would be disconnecting the polar
Thanks

If you have to disconnect the polar then I suggest you remove it and update it to the latest version 0.2.2 firmware with the unit out of the car. you'll need an usb printer cable and access to the internet on a windows pc to do the update.

Should just be hold ok for 15 seconds to update, I know you installed via the scuttle panel but you can still get access to the gateway via the panel below the steering wheel and behind the relays, your best bet would be to disconnect and re-connect the unit this will re set the processors.

yesterday I uploaded the latest software for POlar FIs advanced Update v0.2.3 [16-02-12] and it solved my turning back not working issue.
If you encounter similar on yours that could be the way to go

I have just bought Golfmans old unit. My car is a 2008 GT Sport. Is there anyway of determining which will be the easiest route to access the gateway? I know there are a couple of ways to go about it. Also is there an 'ideal' location for the box so it can be accessed once fitted?

Richn83 is your man for info as he sells the unit.

Hi matte, your will almost certainly be behind the cubby hole if you shine a torch inside you will see a dark red clip at the top. If you move the relay tray out of the way, my advice would be to leave the gateway in place and release the cable, its difficult but easier than getting the gateway back in place. Trust me I don't have small hands.
As for placement you will want access to the usb port so in front of the relays is the position I favour but its a little tight on the cable.

I have the polar unit in the little tray on the right hand side next to the lights switch. It's pretty handy
