Title: Little help with part numbers pleaseeee...
Post by: N!CK R on January 29, 2012, 10:25:29 am
Ok, so after purchasing what I thought was the correct parts, it turns out that they are not correct for various reasons (3 door model not 5 door model and front light switch not rear light switch...)

So, part numbers I am after are:

Anthracite rear interior light switch (currently have a grey one, but got my headlining re-trimmed so want this to match)
3 door drivers side window switch unit (I bought a 5 door model one and thought I could just swap the switch covers, turns out you cant...)

Finally, I purchased a replacement armrest cup holder for the rear seat passengers, but I think I am missing a small "cog" that allows the unit to smoothly open, like how the glovebox opens slowly.

Many thanks to anyone that can help :)

Im not sure what you mean by the Anthracite interior light?

The rear cup holder is very mechanical in operation. (not very smooth)

The window switches….are you upgrading to the chrome tipped ones? like these?

Thanks for the reply.

With regards to the interior light, I mean this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-Mk5-2004-2009-Interior-light-unit-rear-passengers-white-/150742175429?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2318ef0ec5
But in anthracite colour (dark grey). I had a light grey one but had the surround flocked but still need to replace the buttons.

As for the re cup holder, perhaps it is meant to just fall down, I just thought it had a cog in there as there's a notched part on the item, as shown in my pic:

I was going to upgrade to the chrome tip ones, but I think I will do it when I do all the other bits, like mirror adjustment switch and headlight switch. Just after a normal set, unless anyone has the chrome ones for sale.

Cheers

Haha I knew it! I was sure something was meant to go on there. I don't suppose it has a part number does it?

I would just leave it as it is but I know it will really annoy me because I know its not quite right.

Have you got a gti nick?

That doesn't look like the rear cup twin holders in my car???

Also the chrome driver side window switch is only £18 from the dealer. Passenger side is £13.

No, I've got a 2008 GT sport. That's only the casing, the cup holder isn't in the picture. Didn't there were any variations on the cup holder.

Oh, guess I'll be taking a trip to the dealers this week then :)

If you want the part numbers for the chrome switches they are.....

Drivers door twin switch in chrome: 5K3 959 857 A XSH
Passengers door single in chrome:  5K0 959 855 XSH

I'll try to find a tech drawing of the rear cup holders
