Looking to change the standard yellowish rear number plate bulbs to bright white LED look. From what I understand I have to buy error free bulbs. Can anyone recommend a good site or link to buy these & also can someone please post pics of how they look on your car?
Thanks
Scott

From their own site:
http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/xtec-c5w-led-error-free-number-plate-bulbs-audi-bmw-mercedes-p-423.html
Hids-Direct also sell these on ebay:

Thanks guys appreciate the help :happy2:
-
I might have to give these a try, so far I have been through 3 sets - not cheap ones either - and all of them have burnt out! :sad1:
-
I bought some at edition 38 from a trade stand there in September and both were nackered by January I'm back to bulbs just now I think I might just get the mk6 led units dunno if these last any longer
-
I have had the above in since March 2011 with no problems :happy2:
-
Could just be pot luck if you buy ones that don't last. Someone bumped into the back of the car so when this gets fixed I'll change the number plate bulbs & my reggy plate.

Aye, please do!
I'm planning on getting a set but i've spent way too much on the car this month as it is!
-
Cars due into the bodyshop on Monday so once these are installed I'll update this post :happy2:
-
I've turned off the load monitoring option for number plate lights on my car using VCDS so perhaps thats an option to avoid the error messages.

Still not got these as yet. Been in contact with the seller who stated that as they are coming from China I should get them in the next few days. Remain hopeful but will need to chase Paypal if I'm waiting any longer. :(

I bought the ones from hids direct mentioned earlier in the thread. Really impressed, fitted no problem and work a treat!

No one fancy the problem free OEM mk6 led numberplate light units(not just the bulb)?
1k8943021C straight plug and play, look awesome too
Not cheap but no errors or blown fleabay crap :happy2:
-
Never considered the MK6 ones :ashamed:
How much do they cost?

To be honest, the lights work a treat & no Canbus issues however they are a bit to bright for my liking. Wanted more of an OEM look. Suppose they'll do the job just now & are an easy fix if I want to change back.

^^
Yes those look very bright. Would be great to obscure the number plate from cameras
-
Think i'm gonna buy a small sheet of LaminX so they have a shade of blue.

Of course they won't
But they did on the OP's camera :P

Looks very bright! I did mine (just some off ebay which someone linked to on here before) and it looks much better than standard bulbs.

That sounds like a good idea, or just a light smoke would produce less harsh light :happy2:
-
Jesus are they xenon number plate bulbs? :signLOL: so far the ones I got off of a guy on here are still going strong

Instead of starting a new thread... anyone know what lamps I can get that wont throw up an error code? I've got a 2008 Golf and I've been told the CANBUS system on it is different to earlier Golf's.
Cheers
