Title: R32 rear lights
Post by: OldSpeckledBen on January 30, 2012, 07:50:04 pm
I was wondering if anyone had bought or heard anything about these R32 rear lightshttp://www.eurowagens.com/en/vw/golf-5-jetta-5/r32-rear-lights-vw-golf-5-genuine.html (http://www.eurowagens.com/en/vw/golf-5-jetta-5/r32-rear-lights-vw-golf-5-genuine.html)
It says they're genuine, UK spec and a direct replacement but that price seems to be fairly good for genuine R32 lights  :sad1:

Cheers in advance,
Ben

The part number listed doesn't look like a VAG one, they may be Hella?  I have seen a few recently at that price made by Hella, which are OE quality, slight modifying required to fit iirc though.  :popcornsoda:

It says they are genuine and they look it to me, if you have a TPS near you it might be worth getting a comparative price! :happy2:

Yeah I thought they looked pretty good for a non official item but like vRS_Pagey said they're probably made by Hella and I don't want to modify the light tbh

Cheers,
Ben

Was looking at these myself a while back as it's a cracking price BUT..... think it was junglefacedjake who bought a set of these and they aren't genuine ones, believe they are Hella aftermarket ones and he had a pig getting them to fit properly and needed some modification/cutting to make them sit right on the car

Cheers Dave for the heads up on these  :happy2: I was tempted to buy them as well, glad I didnt

I did look at the ones on the Awesome website as i'm sure they're genuine ones but I'm not even sure how much the lights are from the stealers, I know they're not cheap though

Cheers,
Ben

The ones awesome GTI sells are the genuine ones but at full dealer prices so not cheap about £220 i think the last time i looked, was very lucky a few weeks back to get hold of a genuine set off of a friend of a friend breaking his R32 for silly money

Keep an eye out as they do come up on here every so often for around the £160ish mark  :happy2:

Oh right, you were very lucky then
Awesome GTI's price at the minute is £227, I take it thats around the same price as the dealers.
I will keep my eye out in the For Sale section but I know if they do come up they'll be snapped up pretty quick  :sad1:

Thanks again,
Ben

"Hello,

Many thanks for your email.

This is just to confirm that this is a genuine VW product.

Please do let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

If they have a favourable returns policy its worth a punt IMO.

Are the OEM lights not made by Hello or are they Valeo?

As far as I know the genuine lights are made by hella and the LED ones are by Valeo  :happy2:

Just the review by jungleface saying he had to modify to make them fit put me off giving them a go

Might of been a dodgy set or batch tho ya never know, and if they've said they are genuine and turn out not to be sending them back should be fairly easy and the phone number on the website is in the uk too

I bought some of the hella LED rear lights but no matter how many times a tried i couldn't get the plug to stay in, it just kept springing out again.  I gave up and took them back.
