So i was driving my car home from university this morning and decided to overtake a bus on a dual carriage way so as i put my foot down the car was revving but it felt like the engine wasn't pulling, the needle then moves slightly down on the rev counter but in a really smooth action without much jerking or anything. After this the power seems to return.. It kind of sounds like when a DSG downshifts and u can hear the engine pick up revs it even feels the same way tbh, but mines a manual lol Hope i've explained this clearly :sad1: The car is a 2.0 GT TDI [04] remapped to 180bhp/290torque

Ah man, i'm going to get it checked out tomorrow. Are they expensive? and does the Flywheel need changing at the same time? :scared:
-
Also if it turns out to be the clutch what do people recommend as a replacement?
-
Is the car the 170 tdi? If so, I'd be surprised that the additional power increase would cause it to slip, unless the clutch was near end of life. I had a 2.2 tdi civic mapped from 138 to 185 bhp and no slippage...
-
It's a 140bhp model. Just hoping the costs aren't to much. I'm just in the middle of doing my GTI conversion :( all costs come at once it seems. Some people get thousands of miles with a remap with no need to change clutch, mines been 3 months.

Yup, Sachs unit in there now but I think my flywheel is now in need of replacing

Is it true if the car drives from standstill in 5th gear the clutch is the culprit? And if it stalls the clutch is good?
-
Yeah should stall in a high gear...
Dam... That's why I'm replacing the fly at same time... :yuck:

Ive had my car checked and the flywheel seems fine its just the clutch. My questions if my car has an LUK flywheel will a Sachs clutch fit and vice versa? or do they have to be the same brand. My mechanic thinks they do work but just to be sure i wanted to ask here as i want to go for a Sachs if i can. Any advice would be appreciated it as i need to get the parts tomorrow to get fitted tomorrow evening!
